I agree with that, we always change ours after we've had three seasons out of them, I leave them on the rims until just before we're about to hit the fourth season & have them renewed. They spend the winters in my garage with a good bit of the air let out.

Tyron bands hold the tyres on the wheel even after a blow-out, making it possible to pull over safely and minimising damage to the van. 

Van tyre pressure should be given in your handbook.  If in doubt then check the max pressure stamped on the tyres and inflate to about 5 psi below that.  It has nothing to do with car tyre pressure, but that should also be increased.
