As this is a new venture it may be a good idea to start the valeting business as a part time venture .In that way you could build up customers and see how it goes then when the time was right go full time or pull out without much financial damage .Has your son experience of the car/caravan valeting business ? .
If you do intend on valeting try as someone has suggested and valet cars. I noticed that a garden centre close to me had a person advertising a clean while you shopped which I thought was a great idea because the weekend is the most popular time when these centres get visited. I an sure the garden cetres would welcome this as you would have to pays them a small fee etc etc (win win situtation). This could be done as extra income (part time) until it takes off.

did anyone see that program in which they got mega bucks for there business if they could prove a solid ground or reason for the ideas?one guy won there support for cleaning wagons at service stations while the drivers were eating and sleeping.they all thought it was a brilliant idea.so why not this one?
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I've recently started up my own business valeting caravans, but the big difference is i'm based in Spain and the caravans are permanently set up for full time living.
I may still be able to give your son some advice on equipment he will need, good chemicals available and some little tricks to get himself ahead of any competition.
Like many others have already mentioned mobile car valeting would be another string to his bow and worth looking in too.
If you live in an area with some good sized mobile home parks, even within a 30 mile radius, he'll find traveling out to those very advantageous as people don't have the equipment, materials or experience to complete these cleaning jobs to a high standard. If he gets one job on one site and does it to a high standard you can be sure he'll get more.
Taking some courses on vehicle valeting and even upholstery cleaning would be well worth the time, effort and cost.
Having the equipment and knowledge will see himself set up for work in all realms of vehicle valeting, things always do and always will get dirty
And remember... Where there's muck there's money!

This is a great idea, as someone else said its great to get your car back after a propper full valet, imagine how nice it would be to have your van back like new. I now live in Staffordshire but i'm from the black country and know a lot of people who have vans in the area.
There's a bloke in the Welwyn Garden City area who does this and you can't get booked with him unless you're prepared to wait weeks - especially at this time of the year and again at the start of the season.
I always derived great pleasure in making my cars and caravans gleam, but with the passing of the years it has become more and more of a chore especially where the caravan is involved.
I think it's a great idea and as long as he's good at it, the word will soon spread and he'll be inundated. Best get some cards run off and placed on the information boards of all the caravan sites and storage compounds in the area he intends to operate within.
