I've already sorted my storage in there, knocked up a box the size of the compartment and about 10" deep so that it sits above the pipes. Put legs on it arranged so that they don't interfere with the pipes and there is still room underneath for wellies and other shoes.

Hello, we have just sold a 16 year old Elddis Whirlwind with the same feature and what we used to do is pack the electricity cables in there when travelling, also the aerial cable should we have ever needed it.  We also stored the bags for the Aquaroll, Wastehog and TV in there, so as not to throw absolutely everything in the boot of the car.  It's a good little storage area.  We've also got this in our new Bailey (hopefully delivery will be next week, very exciting), but the actual lid isn't as strong as in the Elddis so I don't really want to use it too much.

You could always store your valuables in there or even a strong box.

with mine being a double wardrobe,as well as having top access through the bottom of the wardrobe there is also a cupboard door into this area at the side of the fire so its very handy.

Seems a good idea Michael but don't forget about the heat building up in a smallish box, perhaps you could cover the underside with cooking foil and then add a vent at the back?

yes thanks gary point taken,i have a couple of metal vents in the cupboard. i could stick the foil with the stuff for damp proofing on walls.[:o)]

OK, how do you get a broom and walking stick in there, it's only about 18" high? I'd already decided that it was a good place for the wellies>
The wardrobe is above it, there's no lid to it, really it is the floor of the wardrobe. So it's the only cupboard tall enough for the broom and walking stick, nearly forgot the umbrella is there as well. Best bit is wet coats go in the wardrobe and come out nice and dry.

Doh ive suggested hiding valuables in there so now everyone knows where I hide my money. Mind you I dont think white fivers are legal tender any more.
