I think it could be as much as £12 per square meter but going by the comments worth every penny.

Thanks for the link. Saw some reddish ones that may be suitable. Not sure whether to try and do it myself or get a "professional" to do it. We will also tile under the buns and the island bed. I think it will be a good idea to remove the original carpeting. Apparently it should take a professional about 2 hours at a cost of about £35. Probably do it sometime in March / April next year. One thing is that you will not have tacky looking staples holding dow the carpet.

Carpet tiles are really easy to lay. You only need to cut at the edges. We have them in our kitchen and 2 bathrooms. In our last house we had them in half the house.

just seen this thread.

we had a few spare carpet tiles given us ( luv free stuff ) .

laid them loose in entrance area and kitchen area 2 c how they performed.

doing ok 4 this season no problems with height but does only come up 2 fridge door which is a good height off floor anyway.

added bonus it keeps the carpet like new.
