We found Freeview offered no advantage over the normal terrestrial signal. Now I'm using a 66cm Maxview Dish with a Pace DS430N Digibox and it takes me a maximum of 10 minutes to set up and have all my Sky Free to view Channels. It has the added advantage of working all through France and into Northern Spain.
Thinking of taking my Skybox (I own it) to France. Do you have a tripod, and with what equipment do you find the signal?

hi never got it yet freeview, from fitted or external aerial, was told by a tv engineer that the signal needs to be strong and if you do not get channel 5 you will not get freeview.hes been right so far.
i live in bristol,my local transmitter is ilchester which don't transmit ch5 but i can received freeveiw from that transmitter.
Iteresting the differences that people are finding. I have just bought an aerial from ebay which has an exteding pole and I get great freeview picture with it in Central Scotland
It depends where you are, sometimes we jusy use the status ariel and others we use a large ariel on a pole. Have freeview box ecspecially for the van as we dont get it in our area and theyre knocking off the analouge signal here first in the country!! There'll be a right rush on for everyone buying them when the signal is switched off!!!

I use a sat dish and bought another sky digibox (pace 1000 mini 12v/mains)off ebay. The tripod I use is from maplins and was origanally a music stand at £14.00 took the bit that the music sheets rest on and hey presto an instant adjustable tripod. Also keep an eye on lidl as they have some fantastic sat finders at only £3.99 each. I started to use my dish a while ago and it takes the same time to set up as my anologue aerial did.I can now watch sky tv all on 12v.

If you have a digibox in the caravan, can you take the veiwing card from your house box and use it to view the same subscription channels?
I bought a freesat card from sky for £20 and use that but I wonder what would happen if you took your digibox from home + the card and used that , I expect it would work. Would'nt it ?

Yes, I would expect that to work, but I,m wondering about using the card in a different digibox?
