Hi John, yes, they're great for a quick lift, and should only be used under the axle-bracket. I wouldn't depend on them solely if changing a wheel, but I would use it to lift the 'van high enough and then use the Al-ko jack for security reasons. The Al-ko jacks are very good too, but , as Defender says, can be a bit of a pain in the butt to get the 'van up.
in the caravan magazine march 2007 page 134,a man has devised a heavy duty roller to fit into his drive at home, this consist of two rollers in a frame and lowered into the drive itself.its very clever.this way he can fit the al-ko lock at will by turning round the wheel on the rollers with ease.also not mentioned it would mean you can turn the wheel so the tyre is not in the same place all the time when stored, avoiding flat spots.the lock needs to be removed and refitted for this though.i can see this coming on the market at some time.john can make one of these in his spare time.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
It doesn't seem to be listed here and as its got steel wheels I would think it unlikely that the BPW chassis has the Alko lock receiver which I thought the Bulldog Max needed

Use the motor mover to get it lined up. Never had a problem with it.
Yeah i can see how that helps, we had a demo on them when we collected the van Saturday
Hi, yes but no but....We have a motor mover and the device is easy to fit in storage, with a concrete floor. When on site however, using a leveller it ain't so good.

I've just renewed the caravan insurance through the C & CC and they are giving 20% discount if the van has the Alko wheelclamp
That's great John and it suggests they actually work, assuming they don't load the premium beforehand........sorry, I'm one of the world's biggest cynics!!
I advise everyone to fit the proper wheel lock however awkward it is to fit & to go for the proper alko unit forgetting trying to save a few quid.
Our 6 month old Pgeant was nicked from our drive about 0445 on 01-03-07. It had a alko hitchlock on, two leglocks & a Milenco wheel clamp. Due to it being the series 5 it can't have the alko lock & we had no choice but fit a wheel clamp. It was twisted off like a pipe cleaner, The hitchlock was levered off, breaking the lugs off of the casting of the hitch. They had the van away from under three open bedroom windows & we never heard a thing.
Lucky for us, the police found it 30 miles away on a diddie camp & phoned our dealer. The dealer checked his log & phoned us & I had the van back to him at 1855 on 02-03-07. This wouldn't have happened if we had the alko lock on, we've been to the dealer today & he's adapting the axle to take the alko lock & I hope people learn from our experience & only buy & fit the very best available. A tenner saved in your pocket is no good to you if you have no caravan to go away in.
