The reason I can afford to caravan is because I don't do the lottery. How much have you all lost?

Without a doubt - the idea that vanning is just for  (if it was you would get a shock with pitching fees!) a cheap holiday isnt really the case with many of us i think. I like caravanning because i want simplicity and peace in the countryside - ill still want that however much is in the bank - BUT I would want a top of the range - disgusting large motorhome and a top of the range van with all the bits - and of course would want a nice new land rover vogue with every bit known to mankind to tow it with.

The trouble is that when you get rich, you must get bogged down with all the trappings! Pop stars with seven homes, etc, must be in a whirl trying to use them! I think a gypsy caravan and a campfire and a dog on a string are all you need!  Johnny

the day we finally took the plunge, and decided we would buy a new outfit and towed our new life for the 1st time, felt just like winning the lottery. but, if we actually do win the bloody thing i can't think of a better pastime than travelling in high spec luxury, visiting wherever, whenever we wanted, how else would you avoid all the begging letters delivered to your door, or the phone calls from those long lost relevatives who have always meant to get in touch?

cheers brin

I may win the lottery when pigs began to fly.

however IF i did win it here is what I would do:

1 - Buy a beautifull Bungalow in Wensleydale Yorkshire Dales with enough land to set up a CC CL equiped with all mod cons.

2 - Buy a modest property in Tuscany Italy and have a Car and a Caravan stored there. I would employ a mature Italian couple to look after the place and to cook Italian cuisine using the best ingredients.

I would when the fancy took me, charter a aeroplane to take me from Teesside airport to an airport near to my italian property. I would stay in Italy most of the spring and autumn and use the italian car and van to explore Italy and its magnificent history.

In the summer I would explore the UK and its magnificent history again with my car and van.

for the winter months I would hide away between Yorkshire and the Balearics  or Madeira

I always keep my fingers crossed

"Yes, top of the range stuff or maybe a big motorhome as I would then also have the house with a big driveway."

We have had 3 motorhomes but found they were too big to drive into built up areas and carparks. Once they were parked on site we were stuck for transport which meant catching buses and lots of walking.

Yes, we tried cycling but got our bikes pinched at the begining of a holiday.

A lot of motor homers tow a small car behind them. So that they can get about.

Buy a Nissan Navara and a UK Airstream. Not have to do the day job, just the caravanning 'job', and not have to rent out my house when full timing over the summer.

*dream*....

This might be sad..... I would buy a very large/agricultural shed and buy a collection of different units.  In my collection there would be.....all sorts...including a bespoke Dandy....an intesting small caravan or two like the Wellhome watsit etc...maybe a combi for fine weather or touring in Spain......   Loads of tents all shapes and sizes... Lightweight one man to the yurt...... Definitely would need a yurt built on the field outside, or something as beautiful.......A good small motorhome.. bambi or romahome type size....

Then the treasure trove of gadgets

... I would go out and buy everything that interested me......  Can you imagine you could pick and choose depending on mood over the year......

An in the corner a nice large anorak!  (Well somepeople collect trains....). I say long live anoraks.....
