The year 1969 - our 1st caravan tour & we headed for the 'Misty Isle', en route we stopped for a couple of nights at Appin. The 'site' consisted of an old tourer without wheels, where my sister & family were staying , & a tap. Site fee was 3/6 (171/2p to younger readers) per night. Opposite was a filling station/general dealer that sold everything from ice cream to barbed wire. "A loaf of bread please" said I & was duly handed a loaf, Oh said the shopkeeper, you're staying on the caravan site, just a moment, I'll get you a fresh loaf !!! Happy days. Janet
