We have a non fixed bed van but we have made it into a fixed bed across the back by cutting down a mem foam mattress to fit. Not having to make up the bed is just so brilliant and we just sit on the bed as additional seating.

For the next van (which may be sooner than we would like as we have another damp problem with this one...) a fixed bed and a sep shower is going to be essential criteria. I couldnt live with twin beds, but couldnt justify the space for an island bed.

fleetwood meridian looks nice, as does abbey twinstar, but both will have to wait for a lottery win!! lol

Fixed bed definately, my parents have end bathroom, nice luxury but I would prefer the bed, but have you considered and end bathroom with two singles one either side of the van and lounge at the front, if you know what I mean, some friends of mine have this layout.

End bathroom and twin fixed beds would be ideal so we are talking £17,000 plus new at least, keep looking for a "new" second hand one. I think most manufacturers make this type now but of course they are all double axle.

Hubby looking at replacing our van - we have a 4 year old fixed bed - its lovely, no probs etc so were looking just to get the same but newer (waste of time me says!) anyway I quite like the layout of the end bathrooms.

I'd appreciate any views peeps have - making up the bed doesn't reeeaally bother me - if I have too much falling down water i'll just sleep on the floor!  I like the idea of the shower, clothes and all that in one area, but I do like the comfort of my fixed bed...ho hum...

I assume your van has a settee that makes into a double bed, if so why don't you make that up and use that for a few days and see what you think, if your happy with it and it's not an inconvenience then go for the bathroom, if you feel you don't get as good a nights sleep on the settee then you need to opt for the fixed bed.  I like the fixed bed, because I usually go to bed before my husband.

We had a fixed bed van for one unhappy season!  Never again!

Waste of space!  Was like staying in a bed sit.

Happily now back with an end washroom.

We have had both, the end bathroom in our Eldiss and a fixed bed in our present van a Fleetwood Heritage, I much prefer the fixed bed layout, however it probably would'nt have suited us when the kids were younger and came with us. We are now thinking of going back to a single axle van with an island bed, it's all down to personal choice.

Island bed with closing door to bedroom area and then shower and toilet either side is the best combination either twin or single combination.  The way I look at it is how much time do you spend in the bathroom and how much time do you spend in bed?

Hi we looked at a single axle think it was the Abbey Vogue or something like that..............nice van and quite roomy.

We actually find the fixed bed (island or side) gives you loads and loads of storage space that is invaluable and def wouldn't change to non fixed bed now.
