Just had a gander at the ford site on the spec of your C-max.
While your kerb weight is ok, the max towable mass is 1500kg - this is the max you are legally allowed to tow with the 2.0 Duratorq. You are in theory towing at 100%.

If your manual says that you can tow more than 1500Kg then ok, but I would not want to tow your combination.

Fat Belly the percentage calculation is to my knowledge always based on the kerbweight, but the max tow weight must not be exceeded if it is lower than the kerbweight.  Les is still therefore towing at under 100% of kerbweight but is right on his car's max tow limit.

About 15 years ago i saw a Lawn (sorry Land) Rover towing a small static caravan on the motorway, mental !!

Hiya 'Fat Belly' and thanks for your concern mate, but no worries. The EU recommend (although its not law regarding caravans - just HGV's) that a break-horse power of 40bh per ton should be applied for safe towing.  My complete rid weighs in at just 3 tons which means the cars engine should put out at least 120bh to be a safe tow.  This engine in my C-max is putting out 136bh at the moment so is well on top of the job. The transport industry has been my career all my life so I know a fair bit about what I am towing.  And, considering that there is just our lass and me for a big four berth van (wardrobe and draws half empty etc.) then I would put our vans top weight at more 1400kg than the maximum 1500kg.  But thanks for showing concern mate.

Static vans have nylon wheel bearings and wouldn't last for more than a few minutes on tarmac.
