We use two king-size Vango sleeping bags zipped together in the colder weather and swap to a duvet when it gets a bit milder. Fixed bed so no worries about storage for either.
The sleeping bags came from our tenting days and the dogs feeling cold through the night so climbing in beside us for warmth. Neither OH nor I are exactly sylph-like so, standard sleeping bags were OK for just us but, once we added a 20kg lab / collie cross and an 8kg Jack Russell Terrorist, we needed more space.
Big dog very rarely gets in, preferring to lie on the bedding where our feet should be but the little guy hates being cold so he climbs right in. It means the bedding is washed more often than if only used by OH and I but that's no bad thing.
Funniest thing was waking up with the JRT trying to head-butt his way out of the bottom of the sleeping bags and having to be coaxed to the other end! Now he exits at our heads whether it's duvet or sleeping bags - just to be sure!! Not so funny was the night I was lying on my side, he came wandering up the bed and got stuck having walked up inside my pyjama top!! I'm still not sure which of us got the bigger fright!!

hi we use quilts much warmer, what a good idea putting cushions into sleeping bags must try that tomorrow,
Be prepared for quite a struggle. Fit is quite tight!!!! It takes two of us to do it.
The job always reminds me of the spoof ballroom dancers where one of the pair is a dummy!!!!!!!

Oh Feecamp - I LOL when I read this. We also have 2 dogs - a Staffi X and a loopy cocker spaniel.
But now we have a newer 'van they have to sleep in the washroom.
Although on a recent holiday to Weymouth (which my Mum came on) my hubby slept in the awning. It was very windy on the 1st night - the Staffi X who's a real Dad's boy wasn't bothered but I had to let my girl into the 'van so she had the luxury of sleeping in the 'van.
She's very good tho' and didn't attempt to climb up onto the beds which cannot be said for the other one - hubby often wakes up with dead legs after 20kg or so has been curled up on them overnight

well we went to the Lincoln show with the intention of buying sleeping bags last weekend, we took the king size duvet after the first night decided to stick with the duvet to give us room....i dont like being restricted and now suffering from them dreadful night flushes !!! so we bought a memory foam mattress and LOVE IT its our best buy to date............everyone should have one, best £50 i have spent for a king size 3" memory foam we think is a good buy, i did barter him down on the last day of the show..in the rain when he was packing up. Love the dog up the pyjama story made me really laugh.

when me and OH went camping years ago you could only get single S/bags so me and the OH took sheets and blanket with loads of blanket pins and you had lots of room, spose you could pin two duvets together
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
Two of the biggest sleeping bags we could find, zipped together to make a king-size, for us. We tried the duvet option, but it just didn't work for us, and is too much like hard work when making up the bed.
