Wanderhome give you the best deal but their aftersales is shocking it wasnt till I wrote to the MD that I got any action on a warranty repair.Discover at York have a good aftersales but what they offer you in p/x is rubbish compared to other dealers, they are out to make large profits if you let them.

If you are looking at a good dealer in the Yorkshire area, what about Yorkshire Caravans at Bawtry?  I have never bought from them but I liked the look of the place when I went up to have a look at the Kampa Fiesta awning in the flesh!  Seems like a nice little cafe there too.

I also wouldn't dream of putting any more business Wandahome way.

In 2004 I bought a new Coachman VIP 520/4 from Wandahome at Knottingley, my first van and my local dealer. After a few months I realised that I preferred a fixed bed, went to Wandahome at Knottingley and asked about part exchange on another new van, the price they offered was only 70% of what i paid 8 months earlier. I decided to keep the van. Later that year I had the misfortune to badly damage the back panel, which had to be replaced. I arranged to have the job done at Knottingley and shortly before it was due to go in, they informed me that I had to take the van to South Cave for repair as they were short staffed at Knottingley. I took the van to South Cave and was told the repair would be less than a week. Ten days later and no word from Wandahome, I rang to enquire and was told they were waiting for a new window to arrive. When I queried this they said the window was broken, I knew that it was definitely not broken when I took it in but they said it was, I was 40 odd miles away!! 2 weeks later I rang again, still waiting new window, I was confused by this as Coachman caravans are made at Hull, only a few miles away, but Wandahome said the window had to come from Germany, getting really p**s*d off by now, I asked if the guy was walking with it. After they had my van for over a month I received a call to say I could collect my van, I informed them I would there within the hour. When I arrived the service manager totally blanked me and sent a young lad with my keys and to collect the cheque for excess. When I got the van back to storage I checked it and found the repair to be of poor standard and amazingley, they had obtained a new window with the same CRIS number on as the so called damaged one!!! I took the van to Knottingley, the service manager there agreed verbally with me that it was a poor repair standard, but explained they are the same company and would'nt put it in writing, he said they could also etch CRIS numbers on to new windows, but when I said yes, but new ones would be brighter than the faded ones, he said he had to make a phone call and disapeared to never return. I realised I was wasting my time and had a van that I was now unhappy with. I attended the Lawns show and whilst looking at new Coachman vans, was approached by the Wandahome rep, and whilst I had no intention of doing business with them again, I let him give me a quote against a new 535/4, which again was terribly low. I was then approached by another dealer, offered £1,000 more, a discounted mover and a free 15" flat screen TV. I took up them up on the deal and mentioned my thoughts of Wandahome to him, his reply was "another, thats the fifth customer from Wandahome today". I have been totally happy with my new dealer since and will be buying a second new van from them in the near future.

Definitely name the new dealer!  We are in Leeds and are looking at a Coachman for our next 'van.  We don't really want to deal with Wandahome.

The dealer I now use is Kenmore of Mirfield, I have had only excellent after care service from them and definitely recommend.

We live within a mile of Wandhome and have bought both our caravans there - should have learned the first time but as its convenient and the deal was good we were suckered in again for the second.  Unfortunately we also keep our van on their compound (again for convenience and price)  This is really a joke. It floods with more than a shower, (even though they say it is being improved).  Massive holes are in great abundance (they do kill them but it appears they leave the carcasses around for the passing foxes). Pot holes are biThere really is nothing good to say about them.  Unreliability and no customer care applies to sales, repairs and storage.  Mention Wandahome to anyone around here and they are a joke only their convenience keeps them going.

I ordered a swift caravan at the NEC caravan show from Wandahome South Cave on October 14th 2010 and paid £1000.00 deposit.I was told by the salesman that I would get delivery of my caravan if not before Christmas it would be just after Christmas. I am still waiting for my caravan 4 months later and no delivery date in sight. The customer service has been appalling as they never contact you and you can never talk to anyone in authority.
I would not recomend anyone to buy anythging from Wandahome South Cave.
Is anyone else waiting for a new caravan?

Hi there disgruntled. We too ordered the same time as you with the same deposit (taken straight away!) and are collecting our new Corniche from them next week?

What van did you order?

Personally I did not want it any earlier, infact even now I would be ok to have it later, but they called me several weeks ago to arrange a collection date. So I could hold off no more. I have been taking my time to sell my current van privately, and so did not wish to take collection of the new one until that was sold.

I have to say the admin girls who call you to make arrangements seem a bit hit n miss.....I've had varying degrees of service from them. Sometimes they call me back, sometimes they don't bother!

I've been waiting nearly a month maybe longer for a PX offer on my current van, since when I did the deal I said no PX......however, even though a sales guy was supposed to call.....no one ever has.

Thankfully today, I have since sold it privately and probably for a lot more than they would have given me anyway.

I wonder if they are aware of all this bad press they are getting, word does get around after all. I would be tempted to email them this thread......so they can read for themselves the reputation they are getting.

Its a ruddy nightmare this van buying isn`t it?. Even after posting a question some time ago asking for advice on Wandahome the wife and I found ourselves back there today sussing out a Corniche and discussing p/ex and convincing ourselves all will be well if we go for one, this post has made me think again about a new van. Back to the drawing board. How come you had to wait a month for a p/ex price Chowey?? they gave me a reasonable one there and then depending on the inspection of ours !!!mmmm note the word `depending` I know I know that won`t be the price we get. When you think vanning is such an enjoyable pursuit but buying the things such a hassle.
