For me, it was the extra power / performance, handling, high specification, looks and build quality that made me buy the Navara over the others available.

Mate of mine is a senior technician at a Mitsubishi dealers, he told me the L200's are always in the workshop! When I first got mine, he had a drive in it and couldn't believe how much better it was to drive than the L200. So much so, when he sold his Shogun, he went and bought a Navara Aventura!

What more can I say!

I have been interested in this thread as we are hoping to change to a double cab truck later this year. Had got it down to Nissan Nevara or Toyota Hilux Invincible. Close farming friends swear by their Nevara. Our son, in building trade, swears by his Toyota Hilux! However, our friends freely admit that the Nevara is quite poor on the mpg. particularly when towing.

My question is "what mpg are you Nevara users getting when towing & when solo?" Apart from this I do know there is a great difference in prices between the two!

Rusty/Boggysmum

I suggest you test drive them both to see which you prefer to drive. I take mine across Europe on journey of over a 1,000 miles each way!!!  The Navara is a great, relaxed drive.

Fuel wise it all depends on your driving. Solo I've had 39mpg on a good run taking it steady on mainly A roads. On a 600 mile motorway trip with the cruise control set at 70 I got 35mpg. Normal day to day driving I get between 30 and 33 mpg. Towing my Bailey I get 27mpg on average.

If you had an auto then you'll use more fuel than a manual.

A top tip for getting max mpg from the Navara is, the engine uses ZERO fuel on over run. That is, say you are going down hill, in whatever gear and you are not touching the accelerator. That is engine over run, and the fuel supply is cut to virtually ZERO by the ecu at those times. Put it this way, it uses more fuel on tickover than on over run!!!  It defies logic as the engine is turning over faster, but its usingn no fuel. So make the most of that and use the engine for braking and you get better mpg. Might not of explained it very well.

Drive like a loony (which the Navara is capable of being driven like) and your mpg will suffer.

But as I've said already, pop to your local delears and take the demonstrators out and compare the drive.

I agree with Chaz.I tow my caravan to Europe every year.have been down to Rome/Florence/Venice etc as well as closer to home various parts of France.

My mpg is similar .

It may be obvious but i have found that towing at 60mph gives best results .A bit of patience pays off. The Navara toddles along nicely at this speed.
