We drape bedding over the upholstery to stop the sun from fading it! Never had damp problems but we do leave the heki roof blind open to let the sunlight in to warm the van on sunny winter days. Hopefully and dampness will be carried out of the van by its own designed ventilation and the sun warmed air, and if the bedding gets sun faded we do not care! But towels and clothing are taken out of the van even in the summer so that we can clean them and take them with us on the next trip.

We rally all year round, so leave the sleeping bags and unused towels in, only taking home sleeping bag liners & used towels. Everything else is left in Pack-Mate vacuum bags, which are "Roll Up" type, and do not need a hoover to shrink them.

They are brilliant not only for damp-proof storage, but also for saving space and recycling. I have a small one that I fill up with used carrier bags at home, and once rolled up takes up very little space, but provides endless uses.

They do have their own website, but are available in shops and caravanning accessory outlets. Whats more they have a five year guarantee, which I can confirm they do honour if you need to return one.

The towels and tea towels that I use are all from Home Bargains, and are the microfibre type, designed for 'Gym Users'. These are really lightweight, very absorbent, and dry much quicker than ordinary towels. Just what you need in the van.

As we rally regularly without electric, we have a small rechargable hoover, but it only comes out when necessary and definately not every day! Caravanning is for 'chilling' not 'choring'!!

Hi K10cbr, do you rally with the South Yorks Centre of the C.C?

We have tried the microfibre towels, but they drive us demented as they snag on any rough skin on your fingers and feel YUCK.    Had to go back to the bulky conventional towels.

We keep everything in our van all year round. Except when it comes back for washing. We caravan at least once a month even during winter so the van never really gets cold and damp.

We bought some of the bags that you can hoover the air out of to maximise storing and keeping things clean.

Hi Jayare

Yes I agree with you about the towels, that is a drawback with them, but with five of us in the van the advantages of space saving & quick drying outway the dis-advantages.

Unfortunately we've never rallied with the South Yorks group, as when we started we tried a rally with the Elddis Owners Club, and found them to be the most fantastic group of new friends any family could wish for. Although I've heard good reports about the SY Centre from one of our members who does go.

We always intended to try going with our local cc group, but unfortunately we now rally so often it's a matter of fitting another one in!!

We do the same as above towels and bedding are stored in storage boxes under the fixed bed.

Hi k10cbr, thanks for replying, just wondered if our paths may have crossed, but it seems not!
