Interesting to read others views and to see that I am not the only one it annoys.  We are used to people coming to our pitch to pet the dog or talk to my husband about his car and that's a pleasant way of meeting and chatting to others.  But it's the ones that are going to the toilet block / play area/ dog walk / shop or just short cutting back to their pitches that annoys me.

They don't look at you, make eye contact with you, say hello or anything.  They just trundle through your pitch, dodging your awning, dog, kids bikes etc without so much as a "morning".

Little kids don't annoy me when they do it, they are too busy having fun to worry about camp etiquette, but I find it most rude of adults who really should have better manners.

what if you did see someone walk on your pitch though Jusy?? would you confront them? your on holiday why be angry :(

I really don't understand what the problem is...i tell my H not to walk across pitches and we don't walk across pitches (unless we know them) but people often have walked across mine and i give a cheery hello..perhaps they want a nose in my beautiful Sydney..at Easter i had a few people walking past nosing in..i dont mind at all,,and ill even offer them a guided tour :)

Hubby is on oxygen, with pipes coming from caravan. And if they catch the pipe, it could be pulled from machine.

well in your case Jusy it understandable im sorry but i didn't know it was your situation sorry...these people would have to be pretty close though wouldn't they?? have you thought about putting a small windjammer around the area where the oxygen pipes are running??

the only little dislike i like is the playing of football (leather) around caravans and cars same in the street here.. i got a football sized indent in my caravan window from a football!!

but if anyone want to freely walk by my Sydney and have a nose they are more than welcome :) lifes too short to get niggy knickered over stuff!!

please be happy folks!!

 LOL

We all do caravaning and camping for various reasons, usually its to be free and relaxed of hectic lifestyles, it is so nice to be able to get away from the four walls garden and everyday issues of life,  sometimes even the neighbours, inlaws etc.

Yes i agree we all have to respect each other on site but hey i thought caravaning and camping was a way of socializing, making new friends and CHILLING OUT

Please lets not forget the enjoyment of it all !!!!

It's the mutual respect for one another and for the sometimes invisible boundaries that allow everyone to chill out and enjoy it. Break those boundaries in an off-hand, rude or uncaring manner and you interupt the chilling! 17

On the other hand, I don't like to see windbreaks set up like machine gun nests in an overtly territorial display. Without ill-mannered gonks wandering through pitches willy-nilly, they wouldn't be necessary. 17

It really doesn't bother me - I'd only be worried if they took something or did some damage. Although I wouldn't normally walk over someones pitch I have been know to do so when walking round has meant going a lot further especially if it is raining! I would get annoyed if someone parked their car on our pitch though.

We have an open plan front garden and people sometimes walk accross that too to get to next door - it doesn't bother me either unless they drop litter or let their dog poo.

We all know where hubbys pipes are and if people didnt take short cut through the pitch, i would 'nt have to worry. We now only have pitches on the outer perimeter and have windbreaks at rear of van and around the side.

Plus brought hubby a smaller machine which means,  no more trailing of pipes from van, as machine is right next to him.

I think it's just a matter of "good manners" to give people privacy, like I/we give our neighbours at home.
We chat over the fence but do not go into their space until invited.
I know this is another matter but what really upset me last year was when we stayed on a CL in Anglesey. Lovely site brilliant views and friendly owners. But they also had a Camping field next to the CL and every morning a "Lady" walked her dog round the CL and let him cock his leg on the wheel of every car on the CL and she obligingly stopped walking while he did it.
Now don't get me wrong, I am a dog lover, but certain owners should be given ASBOs

I think yes you should have the pitch to yourselves for the duration of the time you have paid for it.  It's like a tenancy for your exclusive use.  We were at a campsite recently where our designated area was used as a short cut from the playground.  We had boys coming through on bikes at breakneck speed.  So rude and dangerous not just for us but them also.  I would hate to think what a guy rope could do to a childs neck.

What makes me mad is when they do it at night, all you can hear is your guy ropes pinging and then somebody fall to the floor with a thud.17

I've got better things to worry about than people walking across our pitch when on a campsite! It really doesn't matter - there are lots of other worse things people could be doing. I do think that some people just like to have a moan and are not happy unless they have something to moan about!!

We had our neighbour cutting the corner of our pitch in Cornwall last year.He was so close to the van he almost walked in to the open window more than once.A picnic table across the front of the van made him walk round.

Hope he is not there this year or words will be said.

I think it's bad manners, I don't do it, I have rented that pitch and it's mine for the duration, it's not there for other poeple's convenience because they can't be bothered to stick to designated paths.
