Speaking as a 66 year old, I would be very disappointed if a family holiday was changed although I would see it from the (grown-up) children's point of view and say have a good time as it is no good trying to make people do what they don't want to do.  I think you have made the right decision to go with your parents as arranged, it will mean a lot to them and the sun is going to shine - (hopefully)

Hello Carol thanks for your reply nice to hear your perspective, i have made my mind up anyway, as i would feel terrribly guilty and you cannot buy precious time can you?? as many have said we can go another time,,,,, i am doubtful my mum will with her failing health.    Anyway i might enjoy the outings she has already planned....like Cockington Forge??? A tank museum??? A Zoo???  and her favourite  stopping at Cheddar Gorge (her honeymoon destination)

Lozzie, she sounds some gal lol   I imagine the forge and tank museum are for your dad's benefit and the zoo is memories of your childhood.  It's lovely to hear that she wants  to re re-visit where one of her happiest times would have been spent - her honeymoon.  As she is not in the best of health she may be trying to fit in re-experiencing precious times, as she may not think that she will be as strong enough to do so in the future.  I hope you all enjoy the holiday.

I am so glad you have decided on Devon Lozzie.I am a 70 yr old nana and I love my grandchildren to bits and time I spend with them is precious.I would have been very upset if I had been looking forward to a holiday with them and then it was changed. When you are getting on a bit you never know what is round the corner.Enjoy your holiday Lozzie, rain or shine and perhaps next time you can plan a holiday in France.

Lorraine, glad you chose Devon you'll all have a lovely time. If I remember rightly you guys were the reason your parents got there own caravan so even though they'd probably tell you to go to france & enjoy yourselves they would be gutted, so i think you've made the right choice & you'll have a lovely time. Just pre-order the weather today, so you give it plenty of notice

i have been in the same dilemma thinking we have not long come back from cornwall and it was not very good.  we are off to derbyshire in a weeks time. ive been so looking forward to it but now !! i was going to give one of the clubs a ring to see if they have space for anything in the loire or !! should we cancel derbyshire and go south in the hope it will be better or warmer.

so we shall see its just a shame that its a long time until next summer.
