i went with mark and sall , i tryed to view at half 1 with a ncc friend of mine , there was a sign outside that said "press or trade wishing to view please come back at half 4 , so i returned , me sall and mark at 4.45 at there request ,

no so far i have liked the idea of them , the layouts have tryed somthing diffrent, something not the norm, and nice to see somthing trying to up the gain .

We went first went into the 6 birth , the idea of quing was odd , anyway the lad showed us around , the fixed bed was nice but the
wardrobe was hidously unfinished , and alex would you have these showing in your van , its not a shed roof is it , you saw these if you were layed on the bed

at least paint them white

then into the living space , where there are two double seats now the cupboard doors were catching when open half way ,the cussions were not even comfey , they were horrid ,
the under bed storage was catching the back of salls legs , two of the doors were broken and fixed closed

i asked if i could try putting a bunk , but the lad said "sorry someone broke it " now that is poor , if a family of 2+4 would have it , the kids would knacker it in the first night , and why halogen lamps over a kids bed , if a caravaner designes that he hasnt got kids has he

bathroom is roomey , but the sink tap is a bit odd , but its moden, , shame the sink was loose , and this was found out by a 2 year old and not me , shower look good too , was it that hard to get water into the van to try its true pressure , after all its one of your selling points ,

i wanted to have a good look but i was asked it i could let someone else have a look , somthing that bothered me for that van is the ventilation requirements under EN721 , i wasnt sure if it complyed with the high level roof requirements as one roof vent had a air con unit stuck to it , wasnt allowed to look for low level vents
the kitchen was set out nice i thought ,i like the new dometic fridges but a big selling point of the van is the fact that it has a combi boliler , but i hope is doesnt break . how the hell do you service it its mounted in the kitchen cupboard , without any acess well unless you have to remove the cooker , i think it hasnt been very thought out ,

now the 4 birth , same as 6 birth but couldnt they put the vents on squarely .

the outside , well the first rule of making caravans and keeping water out , the one that i was taught as a kid , and that is dont use silicone , it is everywhere.

and are there specical awrnings for them , are they cut proof alex , come on , finish it correctly

for a show van , i think you need to have a rethink , and stick to log cabins and bikes , ,i would liked to point out what we found alex to you ,but one of your sales reps told us " if we were not buying to go" which i thought was nice and and "not to waste there time " after all isnt it a show , i am not in a shop , ? iam sure he wanted my camera ,

maybe if you make them , let dealers sell them , that might help, but aparantly my ncc friend and a dealer collegue were refused entrence,

I wouldn't buy one but it's nice to see a manufacturer trying something different, yes it's ugly but kind of fascinating to see, a bit like a games console on wheels!

When we were there yesterday they let people in to view it and it's not AS bad when you're in it but not practical, I'd miss my view from the front window.

The salesman said they'd sold 6 and there were 2 more people signing the papers while we were there, he said they've tried to come up with something totally different as they're new to an existing, massive market and wanted to stand out. The staff are apparently listening to the feedback and spend a coupld of hours each night after the show reporting back whats been said.

Has any one read right through their Terms & Conditions on their website?  Some of them are rather onerous and I think the OFT would take a dim view of the way the clauses are worded.

We looked at them yesterday.  They were letting people in, but escorting them into the vans.  We could look through the windows if we didn't want to wait.  I felt sorry for the sales staff, the vans are quite cute inside, not pratical for a family though.   They look like a stylish studio and my 16 year old daughter said she would be quite happy in the space by herself!   I don't think they are as bad as people have said.  The kitchen area is nice and the sofas look good, but didn't sit in them.  The bedroom was hard to walk around.  It would have been better is they had come to NEC, not to sell but to get feedback on the design and then came to market in another year with modified design.   I spoke to a baily dealer who said that the pegasus sold on average 100 a day, and that the stealth had only sold about 4.  He said they are good vans for pitching somewhere, but not touring.

Even if I had liked the design I worry about dealer backup as this will be non existent.

I agree with spideygirl. They seem to have taken all the 'problems' with a caravan and tried to fix them,

Such as the ugly looking slidey paper thin doors which have been replaced by a clean looking slide door. However when you look at it you realise the paper thin slidey door does the job and you don't have that dreaded extra weight.

Another is the caravan basic design. They've completely changed the way its layed out. With the bathroom and bedroom at either side. I like the idea of the bathroom being near the pump as you'll have higher pressure in the shower but I'm not so keen on there being no windows at the front of the caravan because of this.

It would have been much better if they had tried this layout perhaps in a more well-built classic exterior. This would have appealed to much more people then putting a cheap looking black cap on the front.

All credit to Dunster Homes for trying to change the caravan industry but I'd go back to the drawing board and focus more on build quality and the general aesthetic of the whole caravan. If Bailey caused a stir with a simple black box on the front of the caravan, did you really think people would be welcoming to the Stealth?

I agree. Anyone who puts their money where their mouth is and comes up with a new design and brings it to market must be applauded. But Dunster House are new boys in a tough industry. They were stupid to come in with such an obviously arrogant attitude. "A caravan to aspire to"? That's simply insulting to everyone - to your competitors and to your potential customers, even if you'd created a clearly superior product, which you haven't. You've produced a bodged-together, poorly designed, poorly built, poorly finished shed on wheels and are charging a massive premium for it.

To then limit entry to your stand at a public show where people have paid serious money for tickets is yet more arrogance and terrible PR.

A caravan to aspire to? A shed to laugh at, more like!

Had to laugh - my husbands comment was it looked like it had been designed and built by Ikea! (not that I have anything against Ikea)

Saw them today and thought it looked like a converted chip van with cheap flat pack kitchen units. I only hope that people don't lose their deposits when the company inevitably goes under. I couldn't suffer the embarassment of having one of those sat on my drive, I certainly wouldn't part with money for one. Then again there might be a market for them soon, November 5th?

We looked round one yesterday, and they were only allowing two people in at a time, I looked at the lounge and the box seats, terrible how can you relax sitting in those seats, you cant lie on them as they are too short, we then went and looked at the bathroom, and it has a glass bowl for a sink, and about it has a cabinet with a glass front, I went to open the cabinet, and the glass front just fell off, for a minute I thought perhaps it wasn't a cabinet and it was just glass, but it was a cabinet that opened, luckily the mirror falling didn't break the glass sink, but it damaged the mirror, chipping off the corner, don't know if it damaged the surface it landed on, as about 4 people came running in, and so I left to let them in the bathroom, I felt terrible but the tiny holes that were in the cabinet showed that they weren't substantial fixings to hold the heavy glass.  Sorry but another thumbs down I am afraid!

We only looked through the windows as they were saying those not wanting to buy have to come back at 4.30pm

I don't understand why you'd buy a caravan that no matter which way you park it you wouldn't really be able to relax and look out of the window !

The black front is most perculiar and didn't really seem to fit with the sides.

I think they heard people say fixed bed and end bathroom is lovely and just did them both.

Oh well I will wait and see how many I spot on campsites next year I'm not holding my breath though!
