The ceiling of the van by the door is usually fairly flat,and as most new vans boast of 6'+ ceiling heights front to rear surely the whole ceiling must be pretty flat?

I don't know why caravan manufacturers install smoke alarms on vertical surfaces when they should be mounted horizontally,unless they have a different type of detector inside them?
