I took this video last year...it gives an idea of the space in each carriage

Ooh I think that would make me claustrophobic, it shouldn't be too bad if you're only on a short time though.
Mr um..... Nice tortoise, a bit smaller than my horsefield but very cute little things .

Well thank you...I will pass on your comments to Willow and Nettles.
We are going over for two weeks in August and booked the crossing before Christmas and the full fare (Saturday out Sunday back) was £240 which we paid entirely with Tesco vouchers.
They have "upped" it a bit in the meantime ...but not that much.
Having said that I don't sail well so it is no contest.

Just checked it out the cheapest I can find is £252 for a return<IMG border=0 align=absMiddle src="https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/forum_images/smiley3.gif" >
That's the equivalent of 3 weeks stay or longer in this country on a fully serviced pitch for 5
Is it any wonder they are always in the red the return should be no more than £50 then they would have full trains 24/7
They made a profit last year and the trains are mostly full we take the 5.00 if we can get it sometimes we have to take the 4 am because the 5 am is full. Every time we travel the trains are full ( we went 6 times last year). We have also used Eurostar and that was full too.
I know this is an old thread but is very helpful, ive been looking into ferry crossings and cant find a price cheaper than euro tunnel.
Have read the thread and everyone keeps saying about ferry's being the cheaper option but for us going from poole or portsmouth its really expensive, actually 3 times the amount of the site weve been looking at for 2 weeks in august!!
One small point that may or no be relevant to you. If your tow car runs on LPG you are not permitted in the tunnel. How well this is policed I don't know but if it is policed rigorously, you may even have problems with gaslow bottles as these have an LPG filler nozzle which could draw suspicion.
Wouldnt effect us as our tow car is diesel. Euro tunnel for us is just in the rong place and makes the drive soooo long. Will have to stick to the ferry and hope very early booking will bring the price down.
