This is a very interesting thread and it is very good of Bev and Jon to share thier tale of woes with us.  It never ceases to amaze me how little these caravan manufacturers take note of what goes on in these forums.  If I was the MD of Baileys I would be constanly responding to the problems highlighted by memebers of this site- instead all you ever get is a deadly silence........

Not all manufacturers are the same. Swift are fantastic at reacting to forum problems as I know and so do many others. Don't think they monitor this forum though. Obviously Bailey don't either.

Without doubt I will stick to Swift because of their excellent customer service. However much I liked a van my first consideration is always the manufacturers customer service.

Agreed John, Customer care and service comes first in my book. Every manufacturer can, and will, turn out a "Friday afternoon van" now and again. It's how those problems are addressed that matter most to me. I have recently changed dealer and manufacturer for that very reason.

True, however like the JD Power surveys people will generally only respond if they have something to say. It does not take into account the thousands of caravans/cars sold where their customers are perfectly happy with their products. If you look at the failure rates as a percentage sold you may find it is quite low.

Just wondering who your dealer is?
Hope you get your van sorted, Ive had to ring bailey quite a few times in the last couple of weeks and they have been most helpful. Have you tried them?

not to be rude but if you were the one person stood outside with a new 15k caravan on the drive with 4 major faults as some have, 400 miles to do and a month plus wait for repairs to contend with,i do not think you would feel the same.it is only due to sites like this we are informed of possible and actual faults.our friends had to wait 12 month for a new shower fitting in there's. i would like at the end of the day to be a happy customer with my purchase and not a small percentage with tears in my eyes.just my opinion.

As I understand it, Bailey and the dealer are responding to the problem and arranging the repair to suit Bev & John's convenience. It's a shame the dealer is 50miles away, but that is the customer's choice, not the dealers.

correct , we could have got a bailey from a slightly closer dealership ,there are 3 others within 30 miles but they didnt appear to want our custom.

im going to email Bailey later and ask about some sort of compensation for our expenses and if there will be anyone from the factory available at the NEC next Sunday.im not holding my breathe on either account however. i have photos on my phone (not brilliant) so intend printing out on a4 and taking to the NEC to show any Bailey people who may be interested.

Have been having problems with mine for over a year, back to the dealer 8 times, and only now have they admitted there is a fault, and it will be rectified next month, taking three weeks to repair, would I buy the same brand from the same dealer, Yes, it is possible I just got the 0.5% or what ever percentage failure rate, I could have easily ended up with one of the 99% that were perfect.

We walked up to our dealers this afternoon to have a look at the new Olympus & I asked the salesman if anyone from the factory would be on the stand next week & he said yes the technical people should be there.

I wonder how many UKCS members we'll walk past & not realise it?  Let's hope it's a good show, we'll be there Saturday.

compensation ? I very much doubt if that will happen because then everyone would want some sort of
payment every time they had to put there van's in for any warranty work claiming for loss of use .

we dont really expect to get anything but then again we didnt expect it to fall to pieces after 48 hours use either ?

maybe they might chuck an extra pair of cushions or a chest of drawers our way for all the hassle & inconvenience while its at down in bristol for however many weeks... who knows ?

sorry you had problems too.i just think the dealers will take every one of your perfectly round pound coins we should be able to ask for the same consideration.you must be more understanding than me after all your problems i would not buy the same make.
