We've lost count of the number of times that caravanners have given out a clear signal that they do not wish to socialise, then, on the day they are leaving, they come over and strike up a friendly discussion. Why do they bother at that stage?

Well we are caravanners, ex-tenters, and planning to buy another tent so I can go away with my friends in their tents. I will always help anyone who needs help. This summer we came back to our pitch in Devon to find the Fiamma shelter belonging to the van opposite was holding loads of rain so I popped over and adjusted the legs to drain it, then told them afterwards. I would do the same if I were sat in a tent or caravan.
However we have frequently been the 'camp entertainment' when arriving on sites, and struggled with our 3 kids to erect tents and awnings with no help offered.
Only twice has a fellow camper/vanner offered to help, we were very grateful.
This week two men on the next pitch told us it was better than TV as they drank beer and watched me and DS try to set up his pup tent in a gale.
I don't care. It will never change my attitude of always trying to help others, on a site or anywhere else. Like the movie Pay It Forward, one day it may come back to me
