Just a quick update....I bought a B&Q Colours Everywhere tester point (don't roll your eyes in horror all you beige diehards! It's 'antique white'!) and painted a panel on the ceiling, and a bit of the wood on the cupboards. Despite it being bumpy vinyl, it's gone on smashing!
I did buy a matt tester pot- but I'll be buying a large tin of silk. It's kitchen and bathroom and it's washable, so we're rocking and rolling! I used sugar soap wipes beforehand but did no other prep, so I'm pleased it's worked as I hate the whole sanding/priming thing.
Next step is the black/white checked vinyl flooring, new curtains. And we're going to find some nice wallpaper for the small area behind the sink/cooker, nothing too fancy, just to break up the whiteness.
I will be trying to find some ditsy floral or polka dot wallpaper to use in the middle of the cupboard doors, and maybe leave the frames of the doors wood to see how that looks. Not sure about the wood thing yet - that was my husband's idea. But we can suck it and see.
I'm also looking for some exterior paint to the outside of the van a vintage style nice sea green colour, just about a third of the way up below the metal bit under the windows.
Behind us at Malton was a lady who'd had a little van given. She'd got lots of children in there! And had a windbreak rather than an awning outside, with a table and chairs. She had some lovely stickers on the outside and a wooden registration plate someone had painted themselves. It was great to see that she'd made it look so lovely. She said she was on a tight budget like us, and the van was being given away and was staying where it was as it probably wouldn't tow. So by the sounds she saved it from the scrappers!
Listen to me. I think I've been bitten by this caravan bug, do you???? Haha!
