To echo David's comments (about the layout), unless the Loire layout doesn't suit then I'd re-due the Kitchen. However, we'll have to agree to differ over the Alutech benefits David!!!

Sorry if I appeared to be knocking alu-tech, Zafiral.  I didn't mean to - honest!  I can certainly see the values and benefits of all the new additions to the alu-tech vans.  I am only really quoting what others have said with regard to some of the build quality, and made my own assumptions about the future Bailey may have to confront as a result of the positive and negative aspects of alu-tech.  Also, I did write that post after coming back from our caravan storeage site.  There was another chap going in to collect his van at the same time as I went in.  I asked if he was going anywhere nice.  He replied he was just going to collect the van to take it in for warranty work.  After asking him what sort of van he had (it was a Pegasus), he proceeded to explain he was happy with the van except that the plumbing was falling apart.  I'm sure the vast majority of alu-tech owner have no problems - it is always the problems you hear about.

Anyway, I am pleased that you are happy with your Pegasus.  Perhaps one day I will go that way, but no need for me to change for a while, providing I keep away from the NEC!!    I'n many respects, I'm glad I didn't win the free tickets!!

Best wishes

David, I know what you mean about the nec!!! We went with no intention of changing in February, but trying all the new vans there highlighted the layout issue with our Pageant. We didn't buy at the show, but we had prices received at the show held by Chipping Sodbury for our purchase just afterwards.

I don't think the plumbing issues canbe blamed on Alutech as the plumbing is mainly below the floor, which I think is the same as conventional vans.

I had a similar dilema this week..appart from i had a 1999 caravan,,,my kitchen is 5 yrs old,,but hasnt lasted (bad build quality and bad fit...bad choice of kitchen),,,however my old caravan was too small for my family 470/4..so i upgraded yesterday new to bailey 6 series,,,the kitchen..well..another 3 years of....draw fronts falling off ill just have to live with...cramped space with me husband 2 dogs and 2 kids in caravan i couldnt...lol

I do have to agree with all the others tho,,,if my van had of been only 2 yrs old...it would of been the kitchen :)

I got an IKEA kitchen put in 7 years ago, and it's still like new. Designed it myself using software on IKEA's web site, and got a local reputable joiner to fit it for me.

So to the OP, another vote for kitchen, especially IKEA ones!

Ha - you have come on here to ask that!!!  Im sure most people will say caravan of course (and the Unicorns are lovely) but I'd have the kitchen personally - your caravan is only 2 years old. Anyway, best to let the Unicorns complete their first year of manufacture before buying in case there are any teething problems.

My sentiments to a T there Fiona, our series 7 Pageant is less thasn two years old & we wouldn't be thinking of trding it in for one of the new build models until all the teething troubles are well & truly history.

Kitchen.

I looked at the Unicorn and hated it so would not even consider getting one.

Apart from that if between 2 year old Loire and new kitchen, I would choose kitchen.

Kitchen for sure, a new caravan is lovely, but a new kitchen is better you use it more than a van, plus a good kitchen can increase the value of your house a caravan just depriciates, don't change a reasonably new box to sleep and another new box.Get the kitchen.

just to say...my kitchen....or a new van...well i went for the bailey 6 series...when i say new (3 months old)...so a lot of the depreiciation has gone...newness is still there as still all wrapped in plastic..some poor devil bought it for his wife and she didnt want it...so i snagged a complete bargin of the dealer.... at ssshhh (11k)...and i thought that was too good not to have

MY kitchen..humph!! my bad choice of shoddey joiner who messed up the fit..tried to make it a little cheaper by using a friend of a friend....gues you get what u pay for!! (just hope the same doesnt work out with the bargin bailey i bought....)
