After storing my twin axle at a farm, i had numerous sleepless nights especially when my tracker couldnt pick up a signal, we are now at Longpools Storage hinstock cassoa Gold site, allocated pitch , not crammed together and when we picked the van up last Friday my daughter even though instructed to forgot to turn the tracker off, the tracking company "M-Track" where on the phone by the time we was pulling thru the gates. We are now away in the isle of wight and arrive home sunday and have piece of mind returning my van to longpools

To me, storage is all about peace of mind. We're at a CASSOA Gold site nr Thornbury and I have no qualms whatsoever about leaving the van there. Their security is far better than anything I could reasonably attempt at home, everyone has a numbered space with plenty of room, all undercover in secured sheds as well, site owners live on site. Van owners are not even allowed into the storage sheds, the owners bring the van out when you need it and you deliver it back to holding area. Excellent and well worth the money.
Pete,
Gloucester.

Say you had your van stolen and the bar stewards took the bits of the wheel clamp they had broken with them ,how could you prove to the insurance company that your van had had one fitted? Something similar happened to my neighbours sons bicycle,he was unable to prove a lock was on the bike The insurance wouldn't pay up ,even though he showed them the key, because he couldn't show them the broken lock

Well that's terrible to hear. All insurance is based on absolute Good Faith, and it sounds to me that the insurance company is assuming the opposite. They should take it to the ombusdman immediately.

I like the look of that hub lock. But how easy is it to fit in between trips? We go away most weekends just for a few nights, Having to take the wheel off constantly and put it back puts me off slightly?

Has anyone experience of cossoa storage sites? My worry is that they pack em in tight and that my van might get damaged?
I have a Kojack it takes me aprox 10/15min to jack the van remove wheel & fit the winter wheel & hublock

There is NO guaranteed way to stop the most determined thief BUT given the choice of a site full of vans, a thief will go for the easiest option so I suppose the more security devices you have, the greater the chance he will pick on another van which is easier to steal

Why should you need to cut or burn the locks , if you go onto utube and type in tubular locks, the type fitted to most wheel clamps and locks they will show you a video of how to get the locks open , and they will also show you the tools that you need , which can be carried in your trouser pocket

It seems this is one of these urban myths that are doing the rounds.  It may work with some of the cheapest chimese locks, but milenco in another post have challenged people to do it to their locks.  As far as I know they are still waiting.

When we lost the keys to our folding camper once in scotland the locksmith undid traditional lock with a vibrating tool thing.  It took him a while.  He said the ones for tubular locks were £200+ then.  Even with those it would take a while with quality locks.

The JSB hublocks look impregnable but with our sloping drive are not really an option.

He didn't make it look harder with the tubular lock as he didn't attempt to unlock the hitchlock with the tubular lock.  He managed to remove the hitchlock another way, which I won't describe as there is obviously a flaw that he found with that particular type.  His charge was reasonable and I don't believe he was stalling as we were getting hassled by the warden who wanted our pitch.

If you buy cheap then you might be able to open a tubular lock with a biro or whatever, but I doubt if a thief will have any joy with good quality locks.

Two Milenco wheel clamps removed last night. Thieves used Oxy Acetylene torch, which cuts through steel like a hot knife through butter. No carbon steel devices can resist an Oxy Acetylene torch. Stainless steel on the other hand is a different matter entirety! 😉
