Well what can I say I put this threadf on and never expected all the replies. My verucca's have gone and believe that once you get athletes foot it is prone to coming back. Not yet though - Also noticed that one of my toe nails has discoloured. But I have heard that there are common cures for this like rubbing in vicks menthol. Blimey I have camped for 30+ years and never had this before. I dont think flip flops will work wont they be like a sponge. Anyone got a link to buying some germ free footware. Great reading though I have only just stopped laughing. Peeing on the floor I think he needs a check up from the neck up

Chalkie56, go and see your quack, he/she'll give you a prescription for a course of tablets which did, after something like twelve months, get rid of my athletes foot. As you rightly say, it'll come back if you don't. The discolouration of your toenail is due to the infection, if you get it badly enough your nail will fall off. Also don't let anyone else use your towels after you, they could get ringworm.
flip flops here for the shower only. I wouldnt dream of using footwear I had walked across the field in. Use the mop provided to clean up after you please! (on C&CC sites)
When we stayed at a campsite in Switzerland last year - they were absolutely fastidious about hygiene and cleanliness. Funny how the signs regarding hygiene and leaving walking shoes outside the shower cubicle were only printed in English!!! You wouldn't enter your own shower at home with your shoes on thinking hey its ok I wiped my feet on the mat at the front door on the way in! I too always mop out the shower but the mop buckets often serve loads of showers and isn't changed too often so we should all really be doing our bit to keep the showers as clean as we can in the first place - its just looking out for each other after all!
I agree with Fiona, I did used to go barefoot in the shower but now normally wear cheapie shoe things from Lidl desigened for wearing when paddling etc - but I take them in my bag ! Wouldn't dream of going in the shower wearing shoes I'd tramped around outside in as don't think it's very fair to other folks who go barefoot.
I've had athletes foot but many years ago & contracted at swimming pools and changing rooms at rugby. It's not nice.

After many years of playing rugby, shower blocks on site are like 5-star hotels
I'll always remember Bradford University changing rooms in 1990 - one of the muddiest games I ever played in (I had mud in my ears ) and 3 teams (45 people) had to share the only 3 working shower heads that produced a solid stream of scalding hot water
Try pop in to your local rugby/football club and have a look at the showers there - you'll never worry about campsite shower blocks again...

thats not nice corpogreen, dont think jogging mends athletes foot ,and in answer to earlier thread from chalkie flip flops are waterproof or crocks ,they arent like a sponge and dry quick,so feel safe in the knowledge you arent getting someone elses fungal disease and your keeping others free from any thing you may have!!!!,you can buy crocs for £2 from the outdoor shops
Thanks for all your replies. Taxater I was prescribed some tablets and the doc did indeed say that it would take a year to grow out. So in about 8 months all should be ok or i will go back. Oh and by the way please note that in future I will be wearing flips or crocs so please dont worry if my problem has not quite gone away yet.
