Well, everyone has their own opinions of what is, or isn't acceptable. Within reason, where noise/sound/cooking odours are concerned, a little give and take has to be applied.
where I draw the line is invasive behaviour and damage to personal property. That includes cycling/running onto my pitch (which I have paid for to use without interference), and ball games where my caravan/car/ myself can be hit. I would not think anyone could say that is unreasonable and, before they do, just bear in mind these requirements are already covered in the C.C. rules Page 286 4d
For serious matters, it may be time that wardens, with the backing from Club Headquarters, started to impose a few suspensions/bans. And that already exists in the C.C. rules - Page 285 3g

Rowntree, was the most regimented site we stopped on last year so I'm surprised, the only people who annoyed us was the wardens hedge cutting at 7.45am ,hello we are on holiday, I agree noisy kids at 7am is a joke,by the way I've got 2 teenagers, it makes me feel like when we take the dog out at 11.30pm ,go find he early risers and give their parents what we have to put up wth early morning, it amazes me what time these kids and parents are up and dressed, shouting around the park, a little tip, the blinds are down for a reason! !!!.

Re: hedge cutting and mowing. Has to be done, we know. But even on C.C. sites, the staff are heavily into mechanisation. Every little chore across the site sems to involve a garden-vehicle with trailer. The other year, at one C.C. site, a couple were relaxing outside their van. A C.C. staff member arrived with his motorised transport and, using a petrol hedge trimmer, set about one small bit of the hedge adjacent to their pitch. After cutting back a whole 3 feet or so, he loaded a couple of armfuls of cuttings into the trailer and set of to somewhere else on the site.
Also, I cannot see why they don't have the strategically placed extra EHU, and use quieter, non-smelly electrically-powered tools.

Re: that departure that starting knocking down in the evening and then pulled off at 6:00 am.
I just wonder whether there might have been something happening there that wasn't apparent to an outsider.
Last weekend we were due to leave on Saturday morning. About 2:00 am my daughter woke up suddenly, vomitted and carried on doing that for about the next two hours. Anyone near the tent might have heard us heaving a sleeping bag and inflatible bed outside because that was all we could do.
About 3:00 am my son had an accident (might been the disturbance) so that was another sleeping bag and bed out.
So now me and mum had no sleeping bags and it was the coldest part of the morning. I went for a predawn walk round to get warm and brewed up at dawn.
From 6:00 we were cleaning up and deflating beds (which always makes a bit of noise).
We started on the tent frame about 8:30 because you just don't spend longer in a sick scented tent than you have to.
But to the people around us we probably just sounded like people packing up too early.
The ones who pulled off your site might have been inconsiderate or responding to something like a family emergency: you can't always tell.
But everything else sounds like inconsiderate behaviour.
Better luck next time.

I have no problems with kids playing footie or racing around on bikes etc Couples sat up chatting, although 1.30 is a bit late.
Have to agree with the packing up late into the evening and going before 6, tv's in awnings? Whats that about, i don't want to know what your watching. No need for playing music, what are mp3 players for!
Sounds to me that having to put up with all these things would make anyone grumpy!
Are c&cc sites the same? We have just joined, only for the forest holidays discount, NOT sure i want to use club sites. Don't do this, don't do that, it's the rules you know! I'm all for quiet evenings, but no balls on a family campsite?

Holtpj -
I am a member of both clubs and as I said in original post had not had this, at least in such a combination, before. Never stayed on a Forest Holidays site.
The issue with the children on bikes was that they were ignoring the road signs and were in danger.
With respect to ball games, this is a very compact site with no play area, there is no space to play that is not next to a caravan. However, Rowntree park is right next door with all the space you could want, again inconsiderate parents not wanting to supervise children in park but happy for them to play ball outside someone else's caravan.

Sponge balls are one thing, but real footballs/tennis balls etc and caravans/MHs (or cars for that matter) are not a good combination.
It's too late once your van has a dent or scuff, that's why the clubs say no balls around the pitches.
