My wife is a very happy and competent tow-er especially when we cross to France. She loves driving in France and doing so holds absolutely no demons for her.
We limit ourselves to two hour stints with frequent "comfort" stops and our fairly long drives seem to pass very quickly employing this method.

My husband doesn't drive either so I have towed a caravan for the last 40 years. I enjoy it although I do let him hitch and unhitch as I have bad arthritis in my hands.
What a coincidence, logged on and saw this thread, I towed for the first time today! Hubby in the passenger seat and was very supportive as I have to admit I was a bit nervous, but, it was great and I will defintately be helping with the towing in future. Pat
My OH doesn't drive due to a medical condition, so I have towed since I passed my test at the age of 17 in 1979. My parents had a caravan, and asked me to move their van from Southport back home to Liverpool. I have towed ever since. Bought first caravan when children were babies and owned one since then. I quite enjoy it too!I think more women should tow though, you don't see many on the road.
Go lady drivers I say Got my first caravan last june and today got back from my fifth trip. Just local to Matlock but the one before in July was Abadare wales!
The great thing about this long weekend -my husband came too His first time and he enjoyed it (WEATHER HELPED) oh and lager in the fridge. So much so he has entered into discussions about going to France next year. Oh I have to find more courage I have only ever driven in Spain in a hire car. I will try anything in my older years that i would not have done when younger. Go camping on my own too nowdays.

I seem to have been doing the towing for the last 2yrs going away in the morning and hubby says he's driving (watch this space) he prefers to watch out the window and tell me whats going around us
I tow and have been for the last four years now as hubby hasn't been able to. It is a case of if we want to go away in the caravan then I tow or we stay at home. So I tow. I am actually towing us to South Devon this weekend (high winds forecast too ooer) with three little people in the car. I am more confident now but I find it a big responsibility esp as there is no one to help take the load. I can't really say I enjoy it but I love my caravan holidays too much to not tow! I would like to go further but some routes are just too much alone and so we don't always get to go where I would like atm. Maybe one day.

I've never yet towed the van, in theory I think I could as although I passed after 2001 I don't think the combined weight is over 3500Kg.
My boss can't believe I let hubby tow all the time as I'm a coach driver and drive much bigger than the car and van!
I think I just always worry about how little is holding the van to the car! and the fact my husband tows broken down coaches and artics has just always made me let him do it.
I think I'm going to book on one of the courses next spring and have a go, would be lovely to tke kids away in summer when he's working.
I saw this post and had to add, I towed our caravan home last weekend for the 1st time, OH was more nervous than I was and constantly watched my speed, telling me how to drive. Eventually he calmed down now planning a trip without him (work) can't wait.
My good lady refuses point blank to even have a go at towing.
But then again, she also refuses to guide me back onto the van when coupling. And refuses to empty the loo. Refuses to have the heater on overnight. Refuses to cook by gas... Etc
Is it me, or is she a bit negative
I tow too! i Hubby is a more nervous driver so has never daredn the 3 years we've had our caravan. I must admit I am happier with me towing as I know he would find it more difficult to do the reversing without causing an accident.
I would like to be brave enough to go away for the weekend without him (just me and little one) but I don't think I could do the hitching up etc (our caravan is old/jockey is stiff and I have dodgy arms and shoulders).

Took a break like everyone over covid, flogged the caravan and got a campervan!
Being a singleton Lady tower having just taken up caravaning,I have to say I love it.
I do all the prep work etc and not long since got back from a 300 mile journey to St Andrews. Even managed to over take a Police car en-route-within the max towing speed of course.I tow a Freedom Microlite which is a joy to tow.
