Even though we haven't even got our caravan yet we have already booked Easter at Cartref near Shrewsbury, early June bank holidays Ruda at Croyde and Tregurrian at Watergate Bay for 2 weeks in august. We have taken the tt to Watergate Bay for last 2 years and thoroughly recommend. Also looking forward to weekends in between.
Never been to Tregurrian. We like Globle Vale, a little further S. - just outside Redruth - I can thoroughly recommend. Near to A30, but you'd never know it. Easy to get to anywhere in Cornwall. We have water hook up and grey drainage too, all at a very reasonable price. One to consider another time, perhaps.
We started with various tents, then a TT, then a fairly basic caravan - now we like as many mod. cons. as we can. It seems like a fairly regular progression.
we've pretty much booked up too, i stalked the CC website back in december. our main ones are...
easter- elvaston castle
jubilee weekend/half term - chatsworth
summer hols- west runton cc site ( cant remember its name!)
but the most important one of all...my 40th birthday wkend is Elvaston steam rally so just had to book in there!
Is anyone else going away over the jubilee weekend? I thought it would be fun to decorate the 'van and awning but i also wondered if the club sites would be planning anything, the Big Lunch is on the sunday which would be great fun to do on a club site, just imagine all those trestle tables!!

We're off to Freshwater East for the H.T. Leaving our son at home to house sit for most of our holidays this year - at 26, he's a bit anti-caravan at the moment. Won't be arriving on site until Sunday evening, so hope something will be happening during the week.

We are going for about 100 nights and haven't booked a blooming thing except ferry crossing
When my wife retires (it's likely to be a few years yet) I would love to be able to do what you are doing. Away end of April, back sometime in September.
Regarding the pub near Fairoaks. Do you want to walk or do you mind a short drive?
The nearest pubs are chain pubs and not brilliant. The Rake is right on your doorstep and it's OK but not brilliant. About a mile away in Stoak is the Bunbury Arms on Little Stanney Lane which is pretty good Website here
If you don't mind a short drive then my current favourite is the Bird in Hand in Guiden Sutton Best chips you'll ever eat here
We are all booked up too 6 trips so far but hoping to get a few more long weekends in
------------- Easter - Burford
May - WoodFarm Dorset
June - IOW
Aug - can't decided
October - Yorkshire
Plus many more weekends at every possible chance!

Thank you so much for that JayEss. They both sound very good indeed. I think where we go will be partly determined by if they can accommodate 18 of us on a Sunday evening. I'll add them to (or rather, start) a list of places to check out. Very grateful.
No problem at all. I think that both could manage a party that size but you'll need to book it. The pubs and restaurants within Cheshire Oaks will be heaving on bank holiday weekend. There are a few other contenders in the area and I'm happy to go and do a test for you!
Despite the name Fairoaks is not that close to Chester!
Just booked Daleacres for Oct half term. Black Horse farm is full except for the ferry pitches so sorry David we will have to travel a few miles to meet!!

I'll put it in my notes (I'm a devil for keeping notes and lists). Carol's sister lives in Hythe, so we could easily pop in and say hello.

We have been to Fairoaks before, but it's been more than 15 years ago now and although I suspect the site is much the same, pubs go up and down very quickly these days, and many disappear altogether. Any other suggestions would be great - but I wouldn't want to put you to any trouble ( ).
