Thanks michael, I looked at that one and it's local for me too but the seller couldn't confirm whether it's working or not. I have bidded on another at the moment complete with the power pack which ends on Monday so will wait and see if any more bids go in for it.

Just as an update, I managed to win a Status 315 omni-directional aerial on Ebay today which I can now exchange for my old one when it arrives. Unfortunately I can't re-sell the old one as it is only fit for the bin as I said in a previous post that the aerial and base plate have been permanently glued together but that's just how luck goes sometimes unfortunately. If I had noticed this when I purchased the caravan I could have requested a new replacement but it's something you don't even think about when viewing caravans. At least now when the new one is fitted and connected up we should be able to obtain a TV signal reception and problem finally solved. Finally, I would like to thanks to everyone for their input on this thread as I have at least gained some useful knowledge regarding caravan digital aerials.
Hi stuart1955, that was a really good price (lucky you) for a status 315 omni-directional aerial with booster as the one I won on Ebay was £65 which was still much cheaper than buying a new aerial and booster. I did however manage to fit the new one and the problem was finally sorted and now receive a perfect TV reception. Unfortunately the old aerial couldn't be salvaged like I said previously which had to be binned but I did however manage to sell my old status booster on Ebay for £5.
We have a small round steel plate secured to the front of the van for mounting.
The aerial in the link has a magnetic base so where do you actually locate it as the caravan front and sides are manufactured from non magnetic material?

315 on mine and picks up freeview ok, suppose it depends where you are and signal strength but that applies to all arials.

The Status 315 on out caravan gives a better signal than the roof aerial on our house.
There`s either something wrong with your house aerial (or cabling) or, on the other hand, you`re getting excessive signal from it which can be just as much of a problem as insufficient signal. No omnidirectional aerial will work better than a directional aerial, it`s physically impossible. And a low gain aerial with an amplifier will not perform as well as a higher gain aerial without an amplifier, that too is impossible.
More likely your caravan is in a strong area and your house in a weak signal area. If you get a decent signal from an Omni aerial all you`re really saying is you`re situated in a strong signal area.
When we brought our Hymer B680 the 315 aerial was already installed along with the 315 box. As a retired electrician I couldn't quite understand why the box had a switch for Low/Normal, any way the reception/signal was very sporadic, sometimes never. So to try and save buying and fitting a new aerial I purchased a new "35 Db amplifier" since fitting the amplifier (October 2017) we haven't used the Hymer, it just stands outside our house (Essex). Prior to fitting the amplifier, the reception outside our house was abysmal but now its quite good, but I need to drive and park somewhere else to check it 100%, but the amplifier has hopefully prevented me buying, removing and fitting a new aerial.

I have become a little knowledgeable about caravan ariels due to owning a Coachman VIP with the stupid little black Avtex stick ariel - at best it was useless and at worst didn't do anything.
After 18 months of messing about and going backwards and forwards I took advice from a caravan workshop in Nottingham and they fitted a new Status Directional Ariel and tv reception is now100% perfect.
In my opinion stay with the Status and see how it goes
For people having problems with the stick ariels - just get a Status and that's the end of the problem.
You can't beat the tried and tested.
Two things that are essential in a new caravan are a good TV Ariel and aldi heating system
Only my opinion but if you can't watch TV and it's cold in your caravan you may as well stay at home.
Much better if you have a good aerial and an Alde heating system as opposed to a supermarket.

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Regarding the 315, mine was rubbish in low signal areas, but on closer inspection I noticed that the little screw inside the coax connection was missing, ( holds the central wire) after replacing the connector with one with a screw it has been noticeably better signal.
