Savanne have you looked at a swift challenger 540? Same layout as a burgundy, we were going to buy a burgundy but like the one you saw it wasn't great and looked as if it had had a hard life for its age,and then saw a swift 540 2008 model though so probably older than you are after ,and we bought that instead, a bit heavier than the burgundy though, good size front seats and the bed is so comfy lol, like you I couldn't get a good nights sleep on the make up bed even as singles, was fed up with back ache. The shower is lined too, so very usable as well.

There's no benefit having a book full of service stamps if the service hasn't been done properly, we've been sucked in several times. Once by a caravan workshop & then a car workshop so I'm always careful now.

I like to have everything serviced as per manufacturers schedule & aways have done. With our first caravan bought new in 1994/5 we found the dealer hadn't serviced it properly when we had a mobile man service it here after the waranty had expired. That annoyed me a lot & we never went back to that dealer for anything. Thankfully I've every confidence in our local dealer, they're very good.

We had a similar experience with a local garage we used for our cars, we used them for years until we forgot an MOT & service & they were too busy to fit the car in, I had it serviced & tested elsewhere only to be told some of the filters had never been changed.

Use these guys, they keep your warranty intact and are cheaper than a main dealer, check out your local guys and read their feedback

The main (possibly the *only*) reason for servicing is he damp check necessary to validate the water ingress warranty.

When we owned a Geist, we were told that (in common with all the UK marques) we'd have to pay for a 'full service' if we wanted that all important damp check and stamp.

After speaking to LMC (manufacturers of Geist) in Germany we wee told that they didn't require a 'full service' - just the damp test.

In fact, according to LMC, the 'full service' concept was unknown in Germany.

Armed with their advice (and emails) I insisted that the dealer ( Camper UK) just did the damp test - which, rather grudgingly at first, they did.

We had a similar test performed during the lifetime of the warranty - just a damp test and a booklet stamp. The rest of it, I attended to myself.

It saved us about £1300 in total.

Tying in the damp test with a 'full service' requirement is immoral (and probably illegal under EU rules)

Hi Rhonda - op cancelled because of a administrative error. The person who booked it forgot to tell the ward and the surgeon. Have had a nightmare of a day today. Never mind - we'll see what Monday brings.

Just been to look around Raymond James today - free hot pork rolls around lunchtime. Quite like the Pegasus with the same layout as our Sancerre, but it tops £17,000.

Rizzo,if we bought a van out of warranty then we would have it independently checked prior to purchase and if ok proceed with sale.

Well, that would be your perogative, after all, buyer beware17

Being new to newish caravans I didn't have a clue that you had to transfer the warranty within a 3 month time scale. I'm praying that I am now not stuck with my van

I didnt know there was a timescale either?  When we bought our previous van, the dealer told us he would sort the warranty transfer so we didnt give it another thought. Come the next service , which was almost a year later - and some work needed doing - we realised dealer had not in fact transferred the warranty.  I phoned Swift and they sorted it without any problems. Might be worth a phone call?
