Some people posting pizza/ double gazing/charity leaflets look a bit dodgy. They probably send information to 'Burglars.com?' Some taxi drivers also?

Can,t somehow see a licensed taxi driver even considering that at all ,as virtually all taxi / private hire drivers earn decent money and are licensed by there local councils and also have to have police crb checks before they can work ,it's just not logical to throw away a good job on the off chance of a few bob ,and if caught because of the above they would have the book thrown at them .
Yes there's always the odd bad apple but not many ,if you had suspicions why did you not report them to the police anyway

We got a `92 Daystar. Members of the travelling community (parked by the wayside en route for Appleby?) waved to us on the way home from Skipton .. . How cool`s that?

we went away last year, diamond jubilee weekend and was devastated to find we had been burgled when we got home we have our caravan in the front garden so its obvious when we go away.we had loads of things taken mainly tv,s cameras printers laptop wifes jewelry money plus loads of other things, we now have alarms on windows, cctv cameras outside plus our insurance company said we had to have a monitored alarm system fitted which cost about £400 plus £25 odd a month to monitor it.you think it won,t happen to you, but when it does it,s awful and costly.and no nobody has been caught

I think the crappy vans are what they want we were followed from a site a couple of years back by some travellers who surrounded me and the caravan on a supermarket car park and when in the store to find my hubby who was in the toilet. Now remember we are toeing a 1980 pink caravan. What did they want well they wanted to buy the caravan off us lol. Luckily they took no for an answer. But it was scary. And now were pulling our 1994 van with our own transit. So they will think we're one of the gang lol

It's not just the big shiny new vans they want , they are opportunists, my friends 90' Avondale pearl was stolen last year. It makes no odds if its 20 years or 20 minutes old. If they want it they'll have a go at taking it.

You have to remember that burglars arent clever or clairvoyant  they are simply crafty and devious so they look for the obvious, if theres normally a 20 foot caravan on the drive but its gone today its very likely theres no one at home. If its bin day and the bins are still out at the end of the drive at 3pm its likely that the house is unoccupied. If its dark and there are no lights on its likely theres no one at home. Most burglars look for these tell tale indications so we have to anticipate them.

It is funny about the gypsies tough. We had a lurcher. Three times we were asked if we wanted to sell him . . .and I raced one of `em (gypsies) on my bike; he was driving a light trap. We were both neck and neck heading for a blind corner . . . heh heh I let `im win!!

if you worried about things happening when your away you`d never go anywhere.
had caravans at home for 20 odd years and never an issue same for parents when they vanned. always parked down side of house as well.
over the road didnt have a caravan but got burgled when they went to the supermarket for an hour.
win some you lose some but id not lose sleep over it.
anyways thats what insurance is for ...

My folks used to store their van on their drive, as did their neighbours (store their own van on their own drive). When either went away the couple not going away would move their van onto the empty drive. The unoccupied house had a caravan and the unoccupied drive had an occupied house! 17171717

Sensible precautions apply when you go away whether you have a van on your drive or not.   We are very lucky to have a good neighbour who keeps an eagle eye out (he accosts people before they are half way up our path), opens and closes curtains and brings the post in for us (and puts it where it can't be seen through a window).
