We are certainly not reclusive and do like to sit outside and enjoy the scenery and sunshine (when we get it) it's just that we're not into too much socialising and gossip which we find is abundant on camp/caravan sites. It's nice to just sit with a book without having to discuss the weather/what we do for a living/and much more. We're now in a static and find people appreciate the need for privacy much more. By the way, we have been married for 44 years and can live & be in love with each other without the need for chat 24/7. In fact most days we don't need to talk as we know what each other is thinking.
I love people watching, especially when I am solo camping though i'm lucky cos everybody says hello on the way past,if not to me,then to the dogs.I've made good friends that way

This struck a chord with me, we will have been married (happily)for 43 years in September. What you said about living & being in love with each other without having to chat is so true, we know how each other ticks & life is comfortable & we are both content. We are lucky to be like this, as you are too.

Thanks Angela. These days a marriage is lucky to last 5 years as people don't try and shout divorce at the first row. We've had a few arguments but always go to bed with a smile and never a grump. Always a kiss if one of us goes out without the other (not very often these days as we're together more since we retired).
Good luck.

We have a seasonal pitch. We arrived last thursday evening and there is a tourer set up opposite us. It has arrived since we were last here. I assumed that the owner(s) arent present as all of the curtains are pulled on both the van and the awning. None of the windows or roof vents are open at all ever. It doesnt change it remains like that all the time.
Yesterday out came a him, a her and two massive dogs. Yet the van still looks the same. Surely it must be like an oven inside???
I pointed out to my husband how odd I thought it was, please note I dont think there is anything wrong with everyone being different. Each to their own I say. Husband replied that there is probably a million reasons why........Im struggling to think of any....anyone
At a site last week there was a van with all the blinds down. Never thought anything of it, as there were seasonal vans on site. A few days later noticed there was a car outside, with no tow bar, and the lights were on at night. Never saw anyone though. DH decided it was a couple having an illicit meeting
Not judging anyone or snooping, but it certainly does make you wonder when you notice this sort of thing.
Ah what a laugh this thread has given me today! So many hilarious responses.
It goes to show how different we all are. And it's lovely to hear the posts from two members who are still so happily married after 40 odd years - lovely!
One thing I would point out, is that caravanning/motohoming etc are not just the preserve for people who are fit and well. Lots of people live with chronic illnesses and go away in their caravans/motorhomes to rest and get a change of scene. Perhaps they can't have walks around the countryside, or get up to many activities. That's the wonderful thing about camping sites - anyone is able to have a holiday there.
But hey, I'm a woman and I can be nosey when people are different from me! It can be intriguing spotting something different - it's human nature
