I'm at upwood holiday park near howarth, my caravan has been totally battered with the Wednesday storm, waiting for claims assessor to come and write it off, never get the dents out and it will mean re skinning the roof and side which is a very expensive job.
Also hoping to buy it back as it's mint everywhere else
Around 3 am i was pushing the awning roof up to get the water of it. The lightening was fantasic and no hail storm hit us thank god. The thunder shook the van and to did the lightening strike in the ajacent field.
------------- Cheers

we were very high up in the Weardale area Fri/Sat night the weather turned foul around midnight with plenty of rain and thunder but no hail or high winds..
it was still foul Saturday morning and we discovered the tow trucks alternator had died on us so we headed for home.. we had spent most of the week in south west scotland i would not describe the weather as heat wave material..
and if we did not have a generator with us would have been well and truly stuck.. he he
the best weather we saw all week was back at home in the east midlands.. :)
i have just ordered a new £120 quid alternator but all in all it was a nice week and from what i am reading could have been worse..
Well, i eventually contacted the insurance (CC&C). They sent an assessor round who told me after 10 seconds it would be written off.
I am now waiting to see how much i am offered for the van. I am then going to attempt to buy it from them cheap - with a cash adjustment, and continue using it.
My worry is, that they will want too much for it, so i will have to start looking all over again. It took long enough to find this one among all the rubbish that is out there.
If you are happy with the van then take the money & offer to buy the salvage off them, price will be negotiable & bear in mind if you don't buy it they will sell it at auction which might not make them much at all.
If it's cat D write off then you will have get engineer's report before re-insuring I think, so enquire about the price of that & factor it in.
