Having once had a really bad snake with a well loaded Conway Crusader doing just under 60mph, and getting down to 20mph before the snake stopped, I am in no doubt whatsoever that ATC is seriously useful. It took a long and gentle slow down to get it back under control on a fortunately empty stretch of motorway. In the above case it would have applied the trailer brakes and undoubtedly helped.
I've never felt ATC kick in on the caravan though.
That's one thing I never experienced with the pathfinder, didn't mater how much or where it was loaded or how fast, it never ever snaked.
