Just a thought as previous person stated what you bought is not fit for purpose 😢. However have you spoken to trading standards they can help on these matters and contact the seller ? Worth a try ? Shame it was not covered by pay pal ect . I'd try at least either get seller to refund part of bought price or full refund . Good luck don't just do nothing these con artists are the bane on trust .

I was speaking to a mate of mine at work about the quality build on new caravans (he owns a big Bailey and I own a small Elddis 304) and he was saying that pretty much across the board all caravans are built pretty poorly. Yes there are some well made ones, but even those have little niggles that for the price shouldn't really be there.

Point in question, I bought my caravan from new, and to be truthful I haven't had any major problems, but I have had a few little niggles. For example I keep on finding bits of plastic in and around the front window and lockers (its from the lining on the walls) I also had a minor leak around my water inlet (that magically fixed itself) plus a couple of internal lights that didn't work.

I mean if any of us bought a brand new car, we wouldn't expect half the problems that we get on caravans. Like my mate said, the state of modern caravan manufacturing in the UK is similar to the UK car manufacturing during the sixties (I'm not old enough to remember that, but he is)

Hopefully in the next five to ten years things improve.

I think its the way they are thrown together. Made modular, then assembled - at speed. When you think a caravan is a tin/plastic shed; how far do you think you could drag a very good wooden shed on wheels before the joints started leaking, the windows fell out, and internal shelves fell off? That caravans largely stay together at all amazes me.
But as said, we are not talking about a cheap purchase (new or even newish), so the build quality should be there as expected.

Mid life crisis...no need to rush off to Germany for your next van! Elddis is now owned by the Erwin Hymer Group So hopefully a bit of german quality control will be creeping in.
