Everyone one is different, it is totally your choice, but we would not have a caravan without a nice shower. My wife uses it all the time, I use it very occasionally, but having said that I am happy washing in a ditch or bathing a mess tin!

So in conclusion.....Shower every time. 😀👍

There are several smaller foreign built caravans without toilet compartments. Good concept for hot weather days & evenings with the world as your living room but not really UK weather so no UK manufacturer likely to offer one.

I also use my caravan when racing my motorbike. It's nice to have a shower after a hot sweaty day zipped up in a leather suit. There are no communal showers on an old WW2 airfield

We rarely go to sites without facilities but last year we were on a site with no toilet block so used our caravan shower. The caravan was on electric hook up and I found the shower very poor, water kept going from hot to cold and back to hot again. Didn't use it again until last weekend when we were at a festival and had no option. This time we were running on gas and what a difference! It was much much better than on electric. The water seemed to be much hotter so if you set the mixer tap right, the hot lasted much longer and didn't keep going up and down in temperature. I don't know why it was so much better on gas but if we ever have to use the shower again, I will switch on the gas to heat the water.

I have a separate shower cubicle, but I use the site facilities for showering, only because I take my time in the shower x

When using the shower Pixie, have the heater on both electric and gas. 😀👍

I never allowed the use of the shower in our old van as it was part of the toilet, Wet room I think you were calling it and the water just refused to stay in said wet room, so it was too much of a pain. However, having juts bought a new van with stand alone / sealed shower unit, can't wait to try it out, not looking forward to re-filling the butt every ten min though :)

As to the "no solid rule" Gotta agree! Unless you have real small kids or are unwell, no one does big jobs in our van, never have. We always stay on sites that have good facilities so it's never an issue.

The thing is, nothing stays 'big' for long. No matter what size anything enters the cassette, it turns to slush for emptying pretty quick. But, if you are staying (and paying) for sites with 'good facilities', theres only the trailing back and forth in the rain to contend with.

Reading some of the posts on this thread made me chuckle, squeaking along in crocs, I'm the same, shower in them as I can't abide touching a strange floor with bare feet!

We've got an end washroom and dedicated shower compartment, the line about pee, brush teeth and shower all in one also reflects most of my mornings.

If the site facilities are good, I'll use them, but if they are poor, I'll use the van. CL's and campsites vary in quality and having the option to shower in the van is great.

Usual limitations as we all know still apply, if your off the mains, you need enough water in the aquaroll, or load up the on board tank, not forgetting to check the level of the waste hog in the process!

We're with those who don't shower in their van. Don't like the idea of the water in the van or having to clean and dry the shower, if we use the site facilities we've no cleaning to do. We use them bottom of the shower to store shoes and dirty washing and the rail to hang a drier for towels.

We always use site facilities for showering toilet used for no 1 usually
In the past i have dug and filled in latrine pits so dont have a problem with emptying the toilet waste tank but dont feel the need to drag many litres of water to and from the van when a walk to the shower block is much easier
You never meet new people when hiding in your van but can meet people on the way to and from the shower block / dish wash point

I am watching French/Dutch folk right now, trailing to the block in the dressing gowns, shower bag and towel under their arms - in the rain!

There are water points within ten yards - far nearer than the block, to their vans, yet they are signally not kit out for using them. They are back and forth to the taps with kettles and watering cans to replenish their meagre on-board 'supplies'.

Why do folk put themselves through this?? They've paid exactly the same as me for their pitches, but choose to trail back and forth umpteen times a day for showers/toilets/water. I do not buy the 'weve paid for the facilities so we are using them' bit. The best facilities are in their own vans (which they've paid handsomely for), with a tap outside. Why not do themselves a favour and make the sensible choice. I fill the aqua barrel once a day, empty the bog and hog every day or so. Thats it. If i was going to 'camp' this way, i'd have kept the tent.
