The vast majority of Continental sites have well delineated pitches ... many with hedges i.e. defined borders ... they grow/build these to make it very clear what the boundaries are ...
I doubt they build them to encourage people to sally back and forth across them ...

Was this at 'Manorafon Farm' in Abergele (north Wales) by any chance?
Been there got the T-SHIRT!! 😠😂
We stayed there about 3 years ago. Read my review on the review page for the campsite. We experienced similar problems to others. It's probably ok if you get the "right" week.

I'm beginning to get slightly worried now having read this. I've stayed at Manorafon several times over the last five years, always liked it and never had any problems; I was there in mid August last year and yes, there were a couple of small kids from a nearby tent riding bikes but they were on the track and not being a nuisance. I've recently booked a pitch for the August bank holiday as that area of North Wales is where I want to be, but I'm now beginning to have my doubts.

I have read your review which you gave it more or less the same low rating as my mine to which incorporates an identical experience relating to the OP's question. Your final comment was that you wouldn't return to Manorafon Farm again in the future which was also the same as my statement. There are other reviews on this campsite with some having issues particularly related to the cleanliness of the toilet block etc.
When we were there I thought it was just unfortunate that we stayed at the same time as other people who had no regards for their fellow campers. However it seems this is not the case and that the same issues keep coming up on different reviews by different members. The owners appear not to read the reviews because the issues don't seem to be getting addressed. It's a shame because the campsite itself is in a good location.
living not to far from that particular site ,i cannot for the love of me see why people find north wales so special ,every site i have looked at up here is twice the price of other places both in and out of season .
in fact we are off to dorset next week and even factoring in the fuel costs its still cheaper than staying in north wales/snowdonia or anglesey

Maybe it's the fact that people can pay to park their car for free in most coastal areas whereas most holiday destinations in the south are a total rip off. Add those excessive car parking fees to your budget and it's probably works out more expensive.
Some folks kids can do no wrong. Be they on a camp field or their own street. Mainly because the parents can do no wrong either. Or at least, they cannot see/dont know they are doing wrong.
I read some restaurant reviews yesterday. Apparently a couple with kids got up and walked out 5 minutes after being seated. They took a dislike to a note in said menu asking parents to keep a reign on their kids from running about. This affronted them. I rest my case. These are the people/kids that run across your pitch.
My point kids on camp sites adult only site for us, and their yummy mummy's , and the worst thing is the pubs are full of the little sxxxs as well.
Just think 30 years ago no kids or food in pubs, heaven.

We avoid bank holidays and high season now we are retired!
So do we. Never go anywhere on holiday during school holidays, and rarely take short breaks anytime at weekends. Always midweek. Fits in nicely with volunteering on a heritage railway.
Thanx phathamster that was exactly what was happening to us and why I was perplexed and vexed by folk. Happy to help people and fellow campers but sometimes some folk take the micky. I am not an alien.
I agree with the OP. Cutting a corner or similar is generally not an issue but walking through the middle of your pitch is just bad manners.
I stepped out my awning one time and bumped into a guy going between my awning and my car.
Mind you he did trip over the guyline on the other side and was less than happy when I nearly p****d myself laughing
