We do 100 nights a year in our caravan, always use the caravan shower, rarely use the onsite shower.

The idea of SWMBO managing to take a shower, using less than 120 litres of hot water at a rate of deluge that would have had Noah paddling home to build a bigger ark...

No. We use the site facilities.

What are we actually describing as a shower? Is it a separate cubicle within a large washroom or the shower head & curtain fitted inside the small toilet compartment on a different type of layout?

Presumably if one wants a shower then one would buy a caravan with a separate shower cubicle & if a shower is not needed then a smaller toilet compartment which normally includes a shower head allowing more living space within the caravan would be the one to go for?

Obviously we always use the toilet blocks on sites as there aren't many these days that are dreadful      However on cls or the odd carry on camping site the caravan shower is a must   I never thought I'd use a microwave in a caravan   But it's been used.    Always nice to have convenience     Can remember the old days gas lights no heating very little insulation damp bedding due to condensation. And a bucket for through the night     You must have a shower / wet room in a caravan

We never use ours - it is the small one described by OpenSauce. We do use the loo though and the compartment stores our dirty clothes awaiting washing and spare carrier bags. It's a bit tight at the best of times and I am pretty slim. Oh and I sometimes use it to change in when on one of those continental sites where everyone is a bit close!

We always use our shower, regardless of on site facilities. Comfort, convenience, and guarantee of hygiene are all plusses. The modern sealed unit showers present no dampness risks, so why not use them to the full? Non-use of a shower will not improve resale of the van. In the end, though, it's down to personal choice - you've paid for your van and how you use it is entirely one's own business.

At one adults-only site we have visited, the owner told me about a German couple who had an additional shower attachment on the outside of their van, and were openly showering in the nude.
Now there's a site to behold!!!
Bertie.

Ours does, but only cold water, it’s classed as a dog shower!

The ones that are loo/shower/sink, all in one 'phone box' are painful. That is what we had when we had the motorhome. (are they any different nowadays - anyone know?). As a result, we used the 'block' quite a bit. Since we changed to a caravan - with a good size washroom - we rarely if ever use the block. And, are able to go on the smaller sites, where kids are rare, which is always a bonus.

We found that when we had an Autosleepers Talisman. For the smaller motorhomes I think little may have changed. Some do have a hinged section where the mirror and washbasin wall swings round to screen the W.C., but are still, as you say, 'phone box' size.

our first caravan had a wet room with a shower curtain so i used the campsite showers with one exception.

our current caravan has a separte shower cubicle and i use it every morning as does the wife. just because i cant be bothered with walking to the shower block and possibly waiting for a free cubicle.

the only time i use the site showers is if i have been to the beech and i am covered in sand.

my sons 6 and 8 are little soap dodgers so they avoid showering for as long as they possibly can.

the only issue other thna the aquaroll/water hog issue is the fact the boiler in my caravan is only 5L so disciplin is needed to swich water off when 'soaping' otherwise there will be no hot water left for 20 minutes or so.
