Cliff, off the top of my head the Alde system is 5kw on gas and depending on the model 1 2 or 3 kw on electric. If you set the boost the temp of the water in the boiler is hotter than normal and therefore when blended at the shower it will give you a longer shower, plus if on gas it will heat nearly as fast as you use it. Downside is it kills the heating so in the winter it will take a while for the heating to warm up again. Also running on boost can increase the limescale in the boiler in hard water areas.

Yes, we have a one control mixer tap as well, but if you knock the lever even slightly sideways either way when switching on and off, you may need to adjust the thermostat again each time & waste more water in the process. Not easy getting the on-off direction exactly right each time, especially if you've got your eyes closed after shampooing! The lever showerhead ensures the perfect temperature whenever you switch back on.

No, just a single swift operation to switch on or off, then hands free. Could be worth trying without one first, but our shower thermostat is very sensitive & just the slightest movement to either side makes a significant difference.
