Im a bit late as it seems you have made up your mind, but thought I would share our expereince with you anyway!!
We have done the journey twice now and not had a stopover on either of them, its a right slog though,
when we went the first time with our trailer tent we had hardly any sleep as we were all too excited, I finished at work at 9 the eve before our journey and we set off on 3.5 hours sleep - big mistake we were absolutley cream crackered and were fighting each other NOT to drive!!! normally we fight for the wheel - never again!!!
next time we went with our caravan and planned better, luckily we both drive so can take in turns, but this time we prepared well in advance and set off on a full nights sleep!!! and it was a doddle, much better.
so My advise would be set off early by all means, but make sure you have a good amount of sleep before you do, and stop often!! we did and it was no problem it is a long long way.
if we go again we will be making a stop over for a night to break up the journey, now we have a 5 berth and wont need to put up the awning so its more convenient for us!! I have to consider the kids as well its a long way for them to be sat next to each other!! thank heavens for the portable DVD player - best money I have ever spent!!!! oh and the gameboys!!!!
Good luck and drive safely!!
------------- As one door closes another one opens.. sometimes you need to spend a little time in the room thats all..
Do whats right and right will become of you ;-) Nichola xx
