I've emailed this slimeball about 5 times now, only ever got the first reply. In the last one I demanded to know why he was selling my caravan, that eBay had been informed as had the police, and also (true) the original seller whose ad. he's stolen is a policeman with Runcorn police and has also been informed. No replies to me, but plenty to friends on forums like this exactly the same as we're all receiving. eBay have still not pulled the ad.

Yes this guys organised, his isp traces back to spain via london and germany, so no doubt he would of taken payment through paypal (another means of being ripped off on ebay). How many more people need to approach ebay before they do something ?.
WARNING.... Don't wish to make things worse, but i've heard of this a long time ago where people do sell items like this for that kind of money, and deliveries do actually happen.....
It could be supply to demand theft. They wait for the funds and simply go and steal the van they have advertised and deliver it. It avoids any questions!
So if you own this van or similar, I'd ensure its locked up!
I don't really trust ebay any more!! I was offered somehing on a second chance offer...before I had the chance to pay for it, I got an email from the seller demanding an extra £140 and if I refused to pay it, I would be "chancing my arm". I sent these emails to ebay and they sent me one back saying the matter had been dealt with...
The sellers were allowed to relist the item and they were not disciplined!!! Sounds fair to me....NOT!!!
Don't worry, it's WELL locked, wheelclamps, hitchlock, cctv in the drive, car blocking, BIG dog present, and me also present We also have buzzers that sound if anyone comes in the drive etc. Also well insured.
I received an email from someone who has agreed to buy the van from this slimeball, she saw my ad for my Avondale saying I've removed all details so scammers can't copy them like they are doing with the Swift Challenger I've just bought, etc etc. I told her not to buy and told her to check out our threads here and on other websites.
This is the reply I got from one of the dodgy ebay ads after asking if I could view and then pay cash. No chance I am giving him my address!
Hi,
I'm currently out of town, so pick up isn't an option... However, I can arrange free delivery of the item... I will support all the delivery costs... I want to do the deal thru ebay so we can beboth protected... In order to get the deal started I need to receive from you the following details: - your full name and address (for your invoice and for delivery purposes).. - your eBay user ID.. Once the above details will be provided I'll start the official transaction on eBay and they will contact you and will tell you what you have to do to complete the sale (payment instructions + refund policy + protection tips)! Will wait to hear from you with the requested details if you are willing to do a deal. Thank you.
maybe if you all go collectively to ebay then they might do something aabout it - if they see that the reply is the same and the info about the dodgy ISP is presented then that might convince them to do something quickly
my husband tried to sell our old caravan on ebay some one else had same model for sale so they bid really hi price didnt pay so my husband put it as buy it now and we sold it husband has seen this other caravan like ours several times on ebay this was done to stop us selling ours not very nice when you are above board really upset me.
YIPPPPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! eBay have listened at long last and have pulled the plug on this slimeball.
When I was selling my Dart another one appeared the next day for £300 cheaper. It disappeared after a couple of days. It's now reappeared even dearer than mine was. Makes you wonder ..........
I hear what you are all saying but would make the point that these things are not limited to ebay. I recently advertised an inflatable boat and outboard on UKCS adverts and had a reply from a John Smith (no doubt this is not his real name). He asked some questions about the boat, which I answered and I then got another email saying he was arranging a bank transfer for £2400 and I should then transfer the balance (£2100!!) to him for his fees. He then asked for my bank details to arrange the payment. You will be glad to know that I did not fall for the scam but just goes to prove how careful you need to be on any site both when buying or selling.
Oh I've had plenty of those while selling my Avondale I even had one for a three piece suite I'm selling really cheap. The trouble is there are always people who will fall for this sort of thing.
I am still in support of Ebay if it's used correctly and all the usual precautions are taken before you part with cash.
However, they are a bit slow when you point things out to them which contavene their rules. That said, they did send me an email to say they had taken one of my listings off the site because I offered a 'cash in registered envelope' option of payment (I am a legitimate honest seller by the way, and I offered this option before I used Paypal. It was a way for buyers to get immediate delivery without having to wait for cheques to clear). They also don't like you to use keywords to get more people to see your auction when they do a search for specific items, for example "Avondale, not Swift or Eldis". I would have thought any way of getting more bids and bumping up the price (which means higher commission for them) would be welcomed.
