CDiscount Hanspree 19" TV
The specs look similar....great thread, at least I know which tv's not to get for the van now

Hev

Looks ok, can't work out from the pics if it's 230v only, might be worth an e-mail to the shop to see whether it uses a power supply, not sure if it bothers you but its a 16:10 size screen as its 1280x1024 so 16:9 wont scale properly to the screen (either bigger black bars, or picture missing off side of screen).

Hi Dale, you seem to know what you are talking about whereas I am useless at technical stuff so on your recommendation I am thinking of buying the kenmark that you bought. Do I need to buy anything else to use it now?

Am I correct in thinking this can just plug into my dvd player then all I need to decide is whether to go the route of either aerial to a receiving mast or sat dish to a satellite.

Its either that or hang onto my old TV until everything is digital and then decide after talking to people.

I just wouldnt want to miss out on the decent TV you recommend.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah you can plug your dvd into this, for TV it has a digital freeview tuner and an analogue one so just an aerial mast for that, if you go down the sat route you will need to buy another reciever for it, as you would have to with any TV, as only tv's above 32/37" can come with sat recievers built in.

DaleR,

Referring to your original post on the Kenmark.
You obviously know your tv specs., would you have a look at the available Kenmark range from Comet and comment on the equivilent set with both freeview and dvd?

Have given up trying to find a viewable 16" combi!

Thanks
These are great as I said when I posted before, got my daughter one DVD and freeview, great viewing we now take it in the van with us so easy and no wires.

Crikey - may make you all a bit sick now, but here goes....

Asda also have stores on some retail parks that do everything other than groceries (called Asda Home or something similar!!) - essentially all the clothes, homewares electrical & music / film / electronic stuff.

We got a 17" LCD tv (Onn brand) for £79.  It's great for us as it's small (only got a small 4 berth & she's getting on a bit but picture great - not too bad if watching at an angle & mainly used later in the evening by us & during the day by our daughter (why oh why did I let her see 'In the Night Garden..' as an unwinder before bedtime - she's hooked!!) when we need a few mins to get organised without an 11 month old toddling round our feet.

Methinks we got a bargain - went a week later to get one for the in-laws & 'quelle surprise' - SOLD OUT!!!  May be worth keeping an eye though if there's one of these near you.

Bringing up baby to be a seasoned caravanner - we bought one to holiday cheaply - working well so far - & caravanners are lovely - helped us on our virgin voyage & our awning!!!

Just bought a Sharps LC19D1EBK 19" with freeview, HD ready etc. from Richer Sounds. Super little set, great picture from all angles and best of all it tilts on its stand!
Best price we could find was £169.95. We also bought a 5 year warranty for 10% of the price (£17) which we thought excellent value.
We couldnt be more pleased with our find.
Will certainly come in handy if when we are away this weekend and it happens to rain!
lol

We were buying a washing machine on Thursday and by chance had a look at the TVs.  We bought the kenmark 19" after viewing from different angles and getting them to turn up the sound.

I hadn't seen this thread before, so I am glad to see we haven't made a bad buy.  The other lcd we have in the van is a cello with built in DVD.  The picture was awful from any angle other than staring straight at it and virtually useless.

It pays to view any prospective purchase from all angles.

Brian

By the way, are you aware that all electronic goods have a 2 year mandatory warranty as per EU regulations regardless of what warranty is supplied with the unit?

Can you elaborate?

I am sure that there are a lot of people who are not aware of this (me for one).

The bag for ours we ordered from bags4everything has just arrived and it fits fine ( with the stand detached ).  Should give the screen some sort of protection.
