i dont mind people on my pitch having a chat or admiring our stunning tow vehicle ( and that happens at least once a trip) but it really gets on my tits when they walk over our pitch carrying a cassette toilet tank to the emptying point using it as a shortcut and the same goes for the shortcut to the water point.

sheer bad manners imho17

If you go to Parkfoot at Pooley Bridge, a lack of taps on the touring pitches mean you have no other choice than walking on to others pitches to get water.

Makes you feel uncomfortable when you need water, and the price they charge you would think they could manage a standpipe to each pitch.17

Land mines - that would fix it, if only it were allowed!

I think the majority feeling here is that it's just sheer ignorance and bad manners to to cut through someone's pitch.

When we're out walking on site, we almost always have the dogs with us so we stick to paths and make sure we're well away from people's units.  We previously had a seasonal pitch where the idiot of a neighbour's idea of walking his dogs was to let them out the caravan door then settle back down in front of the TV with another can of lager, the dogs then did what male dogs do and found the first object on which to make their mark.  That was usually our Aquaroll or what was then a brand new, £800 awning!  Not impressed at all!  Obviously, we didn't expect the dogs to know better but their ignorant owner should.

We were at a concert at Loch Ness a couple of years ago and went up to Inverness on the morning of the gig.  Whilst we were away, this muppet arrives in his motorvan and parks it 1.23 metres from our door - yes, I measured it!!  How he thought we'd helicoptered in the caravan I don't know because he seemed genuinely surprised to find that we wanted to park the car where his motorvan was languishing.

After the concert, we were kept awake for ages with the sound of his engine running to power things up - no EHU available.  We managed on battery.  Again just someone being ignorant and thinking only of themselves.

We had the last laugh with him, though.  Lots of rain that day and night so be next morning, we were able to get out with the Land Rover towing the caravan but his rear axle was almost a tyre's depth into the mud - it's wicked I know, but I hoped he really struggled to get out!  If he'd parked where he should, he definitely would have been able to drive out without any problems.

Sorry, ranted off topic a bit there but I do feel better for it!!

I've got better things to worry about than people walking across our pitch when on a campsite!

Of course you do. And if people don't do it, no-one has to worry or be annoyed by it.

Erm, yes it does. It's one of the conventions of camping, and it helps everyone enjoy their holiday that little bit more. It's like driving very slowly on site, keeping dogs on a lead, keeping noise to a minimum or cleaning up after yourself in the showers. Or do those things not matter either? Just where do you draw the line?

Like others it comes down to common courtesy and manners. If i walk across someones pitch, even on static pitches, i walk as far out of the way as i can. What really gripes me is when you have a family like we had at Yarmouth last year. They set up behind us and out came their 4 bikes and as there was no room on their pitch they dropped them on ours, washing lines and guy ropes stretched across but we remained chilled. Breakin point came when daddy walked across the pitch while we were BBQing and eating evening meal. We were sat about 2 foot apart and numpty decided to walk between the 2 of us. while we were eating and chatting.

We went to same site this year and set up a windbreak to seperate thw back of the pitch and had no problems. We do not block ourself in but i do like some privacy.

We not only had a whole family - parents, kids, grandparents and dogs - walking through our pitch but when the dog decided to have a dump in the middle of it - that was the last straw.  All they said is that the dog had been in the car for about 6 hours and needed to go. 17

We,if we possibly can, pitch next to a fence or a hedge to avoid the problem.i know you can't always do this but it stops any unwanted intrusions and yes it gets my back up when people walk through our pitch.

I suppose it is the lack of thought by these inconsiderate strollers that there is such an increase in windbreaks - not just one windbreak, but three or even four - all joined together to create their own private piece of territory.

Shame really. But I try not to let it get to me................but I don't always succeed !!

This is a real bug bear of mine especially when its kids riding their bikes or running around (plaing hide and seek) our unit. At the moment caravan but also previously a tent.  Our kids have always been taught to repsect other peoples property, why cant people do this simple thing?

worst we had was at argeles in france 2 years ago. a dutch family used our pitch as access to the level below where there tent was. i was sad enough to make a barracade of roofbox, bikes, windbreak, rotary dryer as a prevention technique.

sadly it didnt work, they still walked through en route to the pool so on our last night i horribly unscrewed the cap on the wastemaster enough to let the smelly water trickle down the bank to the general area of their pitch....

revenge was sweet...if not a little smelly..lol17

About the most annoying thing when onsite - earlier on this year we were on a site, in our trailer tent when someone actually ducked under our front guyline to cut across our pitch. As mentioned above it is just a matter of common courtesy and manners.

Oh dear,, just come gack today from Rudding Park, 4 caravans and a couple of tents were pitched together in a row,,,,up a slope above us, we didnt have a problem with the noise, till 1.30am  as we have teenagers, but they used the slope to slide down with scooters and bikes narrowly missing our van, then played hide and seek round other vans, upsetting people by the bucket load.
