I have been looking at the Morris Register website and the earliest model with Artillery Wheels is 1935. Previous to that, all their wheels were of the wire spoke type, so your mate may well be correct.
Ofcourse the wheels may well have been changed at a later date.
It would make sense to have wire spoked wheels on the van when you see the side-car type axle that is on it. IE. Motorcycle wheels.
As for the bolt on wings, cars were still being manufactured as late as 1972 with bolt on wings.
The main thing is that all the running gear that is on the wee caravan, is still available from specalist dealers.
