The morning was a nightmare, it improved a lot this afternoon, got it all done. I'm not sure why they don't run a rolling 12 month booking system, it would spread the load out a bit.
Oddly booking for December next year proved especially tricky - you would not have thought it would be over subscribed!
As others have said you can get kicked off the confirmation page but it's still booked, you also don't always get an "E" mail either, so the best thing is to check your "My Bookings" to see if it's there.
What Palava again this year, there again i was as was others also to blame for booking in such a rush, but there again if you don't all sites are booked up catch 22. I have fixed holidays so know exactly when i'm off and for how long 18months before (i.e. 2010 hols issued May 09). I just telphoned the sites required (which are open 365days/yr) and booked direct, the others i got through on the phone no problem at 1.30pm. Its a big weight off ones mind, but not relishing the thought of it next yr. Maybe they ought not to publcise the fact and as suggested just let people slowly find out. Still have some to book but they can wait, main ones booked yippee.
It has to be said it was at least a lot better than last year. Like you Trig our holidays are fixed and with the current system you have little choice for the peak times but to book now, it would not be a problem if we were retired but we ain't!
And before anybody gets all sanctimonious, we never fail to turn up for the bookings and we did not ask for the system to be as it is!
A little better than last year managed to book the sites we want for the Bank holidays next year, going to Scotland using camping and caravaning Club sites for main Holidays.
I kept phoning from work when I had the chance and eventually got through and got the bookings we needed for the weeks we are off. I must have phoned about 50 times. It must have been heavy going for the people answering the phones.
Blimey, as newbies to the CC (and caravanning) we obviously got it SOO wrong. All we wanted to book was Abbey Wood for 2 nights for the London Marathon. The time it took to make the booking I could have run the marathon and half again - and I ain't Paula Radcliffe, believe you me. but at least the booking's made, and we're all sorted. Do the CC sites get really booked up then?
Took me and hour and a half this morning (whilst also trying to sort out an intensive care bed crisis!) but eventually manage to book Chatsworth for Easter. Glad I perservered as it's now showing as full for the Easter weekend.
