This Autumn, we went to stay in the Camping pods at Mabie House Hotel, near Dumfries. We took our mountain bikes and had some fantastic runs through the Mabie Forest which comes right up to the grounds of the Hotel where the PODs are situated. Mabie Forest is part of the 7Stanes group of forest trails in the Scottish Borders.

The Pod was just so lovely and peaceful and we slept well and were warm all night . We had our breakfasts in the hotel only 75 yds away and had a drink in the bar each evening. We would be back there this weekend if it was not for the snow. The heaters just take the chill off the air in the winter time. We love that part of Scotland it simple fab country

Threshfield CC site near Grassington in Wharfdale. Have a picture of the sun rising over the camp on my gallery. We were giving the dog her early moring stroll and came by some man made ponds on the drive into the camp as the sun was breaking through a mist. Just a stop dead and stare moment. Walked through woods into Grassington on a fine sunny morning, via the walk along the banks of the Wharf. Lunch at the Cobblestones cafe where you can sit with your dog in the back yard which is really helpful for walkers with their pets.

Another walk from the site is up and over the hills to Kilnsea Crag and for those not sated by that walk you can go over more hills and down into Litton Dale. One of Yorkshires little known Dales and which was the subject of a house viewing on Escape to the Country this week. Saw a couple of Green Wood Peckers in that Dale.

We met up with someone we have never met before at the Skipton Little Chef and we followed her to a Linedancing evening in Sutton in Craven. Wonderful night.

Super site the CC one at Threshfield and we have booked again to start our 2010 year off back there in March. Still plenty of walking in the area to tick off.
