fair deal
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Hope it comes back to you ok, 2 weeks isn't too bad for all the work they seem to be doing and fingers crossed they'll be super careful knowing it's a fault they're repairing.
Hope you get your chest of drawers too, I think dealers should give some sort of sweetener to customers who have been let down, it must be so disappointing after all the excitement of having your new van.
Fascinating read this thread. Nice to see its getting sorted. Can't help but feel that after each post, John, you should add the dramatic Duff Duffs of Eastenders while we wait for the next report
All the best
Phil

yepeee picked our 534 up sat all seams ok,only thing we hadn't noticed when we picked it up was white mastic or paint on shower door tryed to wipe it off but it is still there will contact dealer to find out what to use to remove it ,never mind..... it towed perfect behind saab 93 1.9tdi ,hope we don't have any major problems though as its now on our seasonal pitch & ready to be used every weeked & hols , if any do crop up they can wait till next year when it goes in for its first service
glad to here bailey are sorting you out bev & Jon i think a chest of drawers is the least they could give you for your troubles
We checked our 534 which must have been one of the first run and all clear at the moment. Thank god.
Really glad you have come to a satisfactory solution, and Bailey are looking after you. You certainly deserve the chest of draws. You will have to let us know what bits of trim they have updated, i would be interested to know.
Having seen the excellent footage on building the Pegasus on the Caravan Channel, it looks that replacing the rear panel is no big issue. In a relative scale of things, but of course worrying as your the owner.
Its how they will break the sealant bond, but as they planned all along to repair in this way they no doubt selected a breakable sealant.
So I hope it all goes well and am sorry for both you and Bailey that this panel has a fault. But if in your shoes I would be mighty relieved I had picked an Alu-Tech product, much less trauma to the van that it would be otherwise.
I hope we learn more of the actual fault found so can get the thing in perspective; from what you publish it seems to point to a manufacturing/handling defect in the GRP inner skin.
the front panel is very very thin on these vans and already we have a small ding adjacent to the gas locker where a stone or piece of grit has been thrown up from the rear wheels of the towcar.I suggest fitting mudflaps if you dont already have them fitted.Ive even made extension flaps out of h/d rubber belting for the 4x4 that virtually scrape the floor.....Our mondeo has none fitted but i will be fitting some asap. Most vans dont have the aluminium nose and therefore not a major problem but i think in a few months time there could be many Pegasus / olympus vans looking a mess due to this design.

just reading this post, and it has occurred to me that what you are experiencing is the reason I would not buy a caravan/car that is a new product in its infancy. There is always going to be issues/bugs etc.
IMO its always best to wait about 6 months as all the teething problems will have been reported and hopefully resolved. However I do sympathise with the issues you are experiencing.
Dinging of the alloy is an aspect of alloy fronted vans; remember back the earlier times where they put stainless finishers on the front, in the more vulnerable wheel throw areas? Eribas still did/do.
No, Oh maybe I am a lot older than most.
I do feel Bailey missed a trick in not putting or extending an ABS finisher over the more critical areas. My Hymers got their fair share of dings but the latest van has this ABS apron to protect the alloy, a sensible move.
However the alloy remains IMO an infinity better build choice than using ABS structurally and for watertight integrity. It only wounds, not fail.
Some enterprising company will bring some stick on stainless shim finishers to market if Bailey don't quickly beat them.
I have supplementary extensions to my mud flaps using 3mm insertion rubber sheet, cheaply purchased from an industrial rubber supplier.
