We don't smoke, hardly ever go near a pub, don't gamble (except the lottery), hardly ever buy takeaways and dont have memberships for any kind of clubs.  Might as well call it a day if we had to curtail our camping!  The only change we will be making re our camping habits will be to try and take direct routes to wherever we are going instead of always taking the scenic routes - and this includes our holiday to France.

We now have a 7 seat 4x4 and a 1500kg mtplm caravan & our mpg is similar to when we had a Civic & a 1250kg mtplm caravan so towing with the 4x4 is no more expensive than with a smaller car. However, I used to commute with the 4007 31 miles each way, but I have bought an 06 Clio dCi to commute with as 32 mpg doing 25000 miles a year was wiping me out, not to mention the tyres on the 4x4 at £230 each.

Costs and a general shortage of money have meant we have reduced our Summer plans, we are going to Cornwall rather than Switzerland, but we are still aiming to get good use out of our van over the coming year.  Below is our so far booked itinery, but there will be some other weekends too.

we are doing the reverse and have decided to go to france and spend 10 days near cap blanc nez on the coast at 12.50 euros a night rather than go to CC site in cornwall /devon...less fuel to get to folkestone than the south west then cheaper fuel and site fees in france and tesco points for a free tunnel crossing.reckon we will be better off in france than the uk....

Wow that is a good deal you have there!! As I am too scared to go abroad with out red pennant or equivalent then it seems a waste to only travel 10 miles or so from Calais. Living in Kent we have also done quite a few weekend breaks (without the van) to Northern France.

We used to go to Europe every year when the exchange rate was 1.60 euros, but at around 1.15 or so it is a big hit to your holiday money.

That is the downside of having 19" wheels for the summer!!!  The 16" winter wheels can get M+S tyres for £110 each. That is the price of vanity!!  The steering has better feel with the 19" wheels on.
