Well my philosiphy, AGE is it's only numbers!! he he he, and at present mine this year are 69 but still feel young at heart enjoying my Caravaning and my Scouting so just keep taking the Tablets. all the best to all UK Campsite members
Well I am 29 and the OH is 25 as a couple we have been caravanning for just over a year, and camping for about 2 years. But I have been camping/caravanning with parents/on own for about 8yrs prior to meeting my wife.
Well, children, my birth certificate says six weeks to my 72nd. Caravanning since 1972 and still loving it. Sorry I put the average age up a bit. Don't add my wife's age in. She has two ages, one is 29. She's said it so often I don't think she remembers the real one now. But we've been married 45 years this time! So there.
David
This is turning out to be quite an interesting thread. In practice there are probably a lot caravanners of a more mature age, but the percentage of us on here who have owned up to being over 60 is a relatively small number in comparison. While CC & C&CC sites are not full in the week, most of those who do stay are retired folk. I wonder if the lack of those of a 'more mature age' has got something to do with use of internet - I wonder if there is a greater reluctance to use the internet. That means there is even more kudos for those who are 'more mature in years' as they have taken the necessary steps to learn.
I much prefer to come on here to find out what folk are up to, than to go on Facebook, for example. I visit Facebook less frequently than I visit UKCS, and when I do it is usually to find out what people are up to. I post far more often on here. Again that is probably indicative of my age??
I will also use email much more frequently than text messages. Probably another age related thing?
Personally I am really pleased to see how many of us are in 20s/30s.
We love getting away on a weekend, away from work and just chilling out. So much so that the OH even gets a face on, when she is driving up the motorway home from work on a Friday night knowing we aren't going away!
We do about 3 full weeks away aswell in the van in this country, and then keep our abroad holiday for over the winter when it's all miserable here

Actually, so am I. I'm always pleased to know that there are folk looking for quality of life, rather than work, work, work. Work to live, rather than live to work, I say.
We're both 44. It's great to see such a big variance in age on here altho I do wish we'd had the sense to start younger instead of wasting time & money on package deals for all those years...
Well between us Nana and I have amassed 105 years, and I am 5 years younger than Nana! I'm just a toy boy really lol!
Very interesting to see a broad spectrum of ages and as we often see on caravan and camping sites all ages are enjoying this great life style.
Over the years we have had 4 children and at the moment have 5 grandkids with two on the way. youngest camper in our family was Tyler at 9 days old, and he still loves the caravan, all four kids and partners are keen to get away in the caravan or tent and its 3 caravanners and two tenters ate the moment. Later thisyear we will have another two grandkids and as they are due in 'holiday' season no doubt there will be a competition to see which is the youngest on a campsite this time around.
I myself have been camping since I was around 6 months old, parents where keen campers and most of my sibling have or used to have caravans or tents. On the occasion of my mum and dads 50th wedding anniversary there wher ten pitches taken up by the clan in the cambridge area, a boost for any site. We tend to have a get together at least once a year and with just us and our kids we can take up a fair bit of space.
Due to highcosts involved in holidays inthe last couple of years I have noticed a great deal more people have given up on the air route holidays and are starting to camp around the UK again, hopefully a good sign for the future.
Excellent topic davidmbell, great to see such a varied group answering andshowing a percentage of the age groups involved in the scene.
40, and started camping 5 years ago, very relaxing would love a caravan, but there seems to be a bit of a gap between what I want and what I can afford!
------------- Visit Llandrindod Wells! Great scenery, walks, cycling, red kites. Ideal for exploring Mid Wales.
