Hello I have just read about the problems you are having with your caravan you brought from Glossops, just wondered how you are getting on with things?, as we to have brought from them about the same time as you we have a 2013 Elddis crusader diamond jubilee, we have big problems with a large catchment area of water when it Rains, we made a complaint about this very shortly after purchasing it, also to Elddis themselves the response from both party's is quite frankly a joke, from Glossops none, from Elddis well a trip back up to the caravan show at Birmingham to face them and complain about the way we have been treated, got a small repaire to the roof which made matters even worse, we have exchanged emails on several occasion, but to no avail, they have now told me to put the caravan with the nose down, and that will help with the water to run of the roof and to take the matter up with Glossops Caravans, how do you take the matter up with people that ignore the problems.

It seems that you now have to follow the legal route by writing to Glossop about your issues. Bullet point the issues and send it registered mail so that you have a paper trail.
Give them 14 days to reply before sending a Letter of Action. At the same time notify Trading Standards that Glossops are ignoring the Sale of Goods Act. Forget the manufacturer as it is not their problem and your contract is with Glossop.
Only do the above if you are going to follow it through. If they are ignoring SOGA then you stand a good chance of winning and getting back all your fees. Don't forget that you can call the manufacturer as a witness however the witness may not want to be in court as it could be embarrassing and may help your case get resolved quickly. Phil can also give you a lot of good advice.

I wish I had joined this forum prior to my purchase of a brand new Elddis 530 Xplore .This is with their flagship Solid construction (not). I bo6ght from the NEC in October 2013 so had to wait till March 2014 for delivery. This van was my retirement present and we planned to collect it on our wedding anniversary and spend 3 days away trying it out. The collection was a farse butters I wont go into that the standard of preperation of the van was shoddy, glue stuck all over the windows from numerous stickers. On arrival at Burrs Country Park we set up and turned on the heating system lookng forward to trying the new Whale blown air super system.Nothing happened just a red system fault light.Hours spent reading manual and following reset instruction s , nothing.Woke up next morning after cold nights sleep to find side window completely fogged up it was delaminated. Started to cook breakfast and a piece fell off the cooker, nothing in the fridge freezer compartment was frozen the freezer compartment was not working this is why we wete woken 4 times in the night with the fridge beeping telling us there was a fault.Since March 2014 the van has been returned 4 times, 27 unanswered phone calls and e-mails to Glossop Caravans to get some action Elddis just referred me back to Glossop. I FOUND WATER IN THREE OF THE REAR LIGHTS which are sealed units, ongoing problem with loud squeeling when braking twice in workshop still not resolved, three times back for heating system, now seems to be resolved, creaking floor still not resolved, rear steady damaged still not resolved, dining table leg fell off still not fixed, veneer peeling off cupboard doors 5 weeks waiting for parts still not resolved, cupboard door securing baton split in 6 places awaiting part.Van seems insecure on chassis it rocks from side to side even with legs secured with slightest movements from occupants. Fridge now fixed new window fitted , shower cubicle not sealed still to be done.Elddis have now agreed to let me use another authorised workshop.I am not confident the faults will be resolved and I am totally dissatisfied with the responses of Elddis in the initial stages but more so with Glossop Caravans. I wont go into how they lost my van for 11 days at their workshops and then deliverd it back to me at the wrong address. In the in the 5 months we have owned the van it has been unusable for 6 weeks we have cancelled 2 holidays and never had a trouble free trip away where something has failed to work. The van is now booked in for an independent assessment nxt week , so I will keep you updated as to the findings.

Hi all. So sincerely sorry not to have posted for quite some time. Life extremely busy and have been moving on wanting to forget the nightmares experienced.
So, an update following the issues I experienced:
BELIEVE you do have rights, and you can stand up to Glossop. The Sales of Goods Act offers considerable protection to consumers.
Having fought with Glossop with Legal Letters we eventually won and returned the van for a full refund. The refund included all extra items fitted and purchased from Glossop.
An extremely helpful gentleman (he knows who he is!!) helped draft a couple of legal letters which resulted in no other option than for Glossop to back down and refund us.
In essense (don't quote me) if you buy new goods, they should be as new, of durable quality, and free from faults. If you have problems, reject the goods early, don't use them, and tell the dealer you have rejected them. If that fails, consider letting them repair them. This shouldn't cause you considerable inconvenience though, and the dealer should be able to explain exactly what work will be done, how, and prove that they have the necessary skills to repair so that the goods are again as new, of durable quality.
I urge you all with problems to Google the SOGA and study your rights, understand the law!! If necessary, employ a solicitor, you can and will win!
Don't despair guys, keep up the fight. You pay hard earned money for goods that are in good order as expected, don't accept faulty goods.
So what now?? We ordered an Eternity IB4, company went Bankrupt. After initially losing £2500 deposit paid on debit card, we very fortunately got the money back following a lengthy VISA chargeback claim.
Having considered what we wanted, we decided that we wouldn't under any circumstances deal with Glossop Caravans again, but the Schooner offered everything we wanted.
We took a chance and bought a new 2014 Buccaneer Schooner from Pearman Briggs in Cheltenham. It has been an excellent experience dealing with Pearman. They are a small more intimate dealership, the van has overall been much much better, and offered everything we have ever wanted and more.
After consideration my main issues were with Glossop, had they dealt with things correctly, Eldiss wouldn't have deserved such scrutiny. Yes Eldiss do have issues with quality control that needs addressing, but Eldiss can be a decent brand if only they would take more time and effort on construction and quality control. With a decent dealer (Pearman Briggs) I'd say you'll be ok.
Hope this helps, happy vanning all!!
